Offered an outdoor gig requiring PA - need to have Short Term PLI (min £2m). Have one quote £60 which seems high for a couple of hours.

We do no require a full years cover. This is a local council event where all performers ( on seperate days ) provide own cover.

Advice/contacts please. Gig in June so not panic buy.

I forget exactly what a sub to the EFDSS costs - less than £60 I'm sure - and you get PLI as part of the membership fee. Worth a check.

We play regularly and often have to supply a copy of our PLI, so it's essential for us. I can see your case is somewhat different - but check out the EFDSS rates.

EFDSS Affiliated membership this year is £65 - still comparable with standalone PLI, and membership of EFDSS thrown in free :)

Our guitarist is still disappointed that the PLI explicitly excludes cover for the use of lasers and pyrotechnics - I think he's got a different band in his head to the one he's actually in ...

If you haven't already, I'd suggest talking to the people at www.musiciansinsurance.co.uk to see if they can do you one-off cover.

Dear Fyldeplayer,
It sounds as if you have received a good proposal. Take it early. There are rumours that Brussles is calling for PLI to be taken out by all citizens above the age of 10 years, should they pose a risk to others each time they leave their front door. It is not unknown for people to trip on the pavement and bump into others, knock passers by with their shopping bags or even disrupt members of the public by asking directions or the time. I spoke with a friend of mine, a name at LLoyds and he says it`s going to be a nice little earner!.

It's £42. I want to do folk song and storytelling work in schools and nursing homes so PLI is really useful. Thank you so much!

If you are doing ANY Paid Work as an entertainer , membership of MU or Equity is a Good Idea ! PLI is only part of the deal - Legal Help is free , an d well worthwhile - One Short notice that you DO get paid for will cover your Subs .
