Officially it won't be out until Folklife, but I am pre-releasing a coverless CD in two weeks, both to make it available to interested parties at FP and also to work out any kinks etc. It will be called the Cannery Shed, with song of same name. (ALmost didn't get it in there because we switched stuff around at last minute..so I have just a placeholder of me singing it).

cannery shed        Mary Garvey
cannery row        Tim Wittman
canning salmon        Linda Chobotuck
torfino herring shanty        Brian Robertson and friends
crab shaker        Sophia Wheelright and Mary Garvey whitehouse slimeline        Mary Benson and Spinnaker        Mary Benson, tony sciola, jonathan lay, dan gicker\
I maka the box        Eric D'Asaro
tender woman        Kathy Stack
herrins hied         Moe Bowstern
molly malone        Cathy Ross and friends        Cathy Ross, Paddy Carley, Mike Halley, Mary Garvey
shore crew        Barry Delaney

Especially great at the young girls from Newfoundland..Cadence...I was going to print their names but they are young so I don't think I will. They are great though.

I forgot to say it is a tribute to women and men of the support trades for fishing. Tribute to fish mongers, packers, people who drew the artwork for the boxes, made the boxes (relatives of mine), canned, flaked, smoked the fish/crab/oysters. Mostly oriented to Columbia River but includes songs from BC, puget sound, Ireland (Molly Malone..not our finest musical work but it is pleasant somehow except where we all sang different words), one song from Scotland but really want at least one more. My Scottish Herring Lassie is not available right now, but when the main version comes out in May want the Herring Lassie on it, and a song from east coast and also a song from a women who worked for Bumble Bee..she just could not make this deadline.

But it has 15 songs on it. I am very fond of it. It is a low-key, pretty singable collection. One very important song on it was written by Kerrie M., and it is about a Chinese immigrant to worked on the Columbia River Fisheries...

There is a new book coming out by Irene Martin about the CR fisheries..she did a previous one on Bumble Bee itself...so this will be sort of a companion to that I hope.

Anyway, I am very fond of it...it is pleasant, meant to honor our unsung heroes..but now they are sung.

For now it has no cover...that will come out in May. So if you are interested, send me $5 plus $1 US or $2 CN..pm for address..I won't have it for prob 2 weeks....
