I saw Maddy Prior and Rick Kemp at Nettlebed many years ago! I played a couple of Welsh tunes myself that evening. But no idea yet on who it was in Midsomer, then.

In response to John MacKenzie - it was actually filmed in Hambleden in Bucks.
They did dance at the beginning of the scene about the race. I was trying to see the musicians (the only ones NOT blacked up) but didn't manage it!

It was filmed in Hambledon, Hants. So maybe a side local to there?

Midsomer Murders episodes are full of folk stuff. I've seen Paul Sartin, Chris Leslie, Mike Sanderson from Nettlebed Folk Club, loads of morris dancers, lots of weirdy folkloric stuff including a whole episode loosely based on Abbots Bromley horn dancers, a folk rock band in a pub, a ceilidh, a ghastly Peter Piers-type classical tenor murdering folk songs, a bit of Wicker Man and all sorts. Somebody in there knows their stuff. Oh, and the first Inspector Barnaby revealed himself as a closet blues fan in one episode. Does anybody know who the mole is?

Just watching an old Midsomer Murders "Bolld will out" from 1999. Does anyone know who were the musician and dancers? Maybe a border Morris side? Didn't see anyone dancing, but some walking around with feathers in hats.
