Here are some of the Festivals that I know about in the North West of England during 2013 ( they all have websites)

The Shanty Festival Ellesmere port 29th- 31st March
Edale Folk Festival Edale Derbyshire 10th - 12th May
Chester Folk Festival Kelsall village Cheshire 24th - 27th May
Middlewich Folk and roots Festival Middlewich Cheshire 14 - 16 June
Fylde Folk Festival Fleetwood 30th August - 1 Sept.

These are all suitable for listeners like me.
The line ups at both Chester and Fylde are the tops.
But there are good artists at the others as well.
