Dear all,
I am desperately searching for Irish-American Folksongs with tunes originally brought from Ireland, but with differing lyrics (i.e. dealing with Irish-American topics, or known to have been composed in America, not Ireland). Do you know any? Thanks a million in advance!

You could start with a research of the music of the - Flanagan Bros. They revamped many old songs to suit the market of their era in the USA.

There is also a book by Mick Moloney about Irish immigrants music in the USA which contains a CD with a lot of early American/Irish recordings, but I can't remember the title.

You might try to get hold of a copy of 'Twas Only an Irishman's Dream' by WHA Williams, University of Illinois Press, 1996. It is about Irish-American songs, and may have something helpful.
Do you perhaps mean particular, rather than explicit?
