Subject: RE: Banjola/Bango Tuning and String set up? From: GUEST,Lavengro Date: 23 Feb 13 - 08:49 AM Thanks for all the help everyone. I must be honest Jed and confess I did not notice they were gut strings. Perhaps I should put my reading glasses on next time! And yeah, DEE really is a talented man. Maybe not as well known outside the usual circles as he should be? |
Subject: RE: Banjola/Bango Tuning and String set up? From: JedMarum Date: 23 Feb 13 - 08:24 AM It is typical to use a variety of tunings on the banjo - and this instrument is essentially a banjo. I believe he's using a minor or modal tuning. And he's using gut or nylgut strings. He might even be tuned a little high. Great sound. Great song. Great playing! |
Subject: RE: Banjola/Bango Tuning and String set up? From: Leadfingers Date: 22 Feb 13 - 09:35 PM The instrument is a Banjola - Five string banjo neck on a Mandola body I agree with Bruce , its in G Minor and thathdoes look like a set of heavier than normal strings. I waved MY banjola at Pete Coe ,And he said - Crap- They Dont Frail , so maybe the heavier strings cut down the resonance so thyat frailing DOES work |
