I've been searching for the name and performer of this song from the 1950s and found a post in another forum by someone also searching for it who provides the following lyrics:
The boat with the rum she sinks in the water
Boat with the rum she sinks in the bay
Down go the boat but up comes the barrels
Rum in de water today.

Grandpa he dives in the ocean
He never been swimming before
But when he brink home a barrel to Grandma
Sheeee tell him go swimming some more.

Fee Fy fiddlio fum, me heads in a barrel of tropical rum

I think 1957 Me Head's In De Barrel. Sung by Chuck Miller at least. Edna Savage and Ron Goodwin's Orchestra also recorded it the same year.

You can get an mp3 of both of those from amazon.

There's a version on Spotify too. I don't do that, but maybe Joe or Jim will have a look for you.

Just to keep you going here's the verse from the preview on amazon to add to your collection:

Mick

No one to rescue the captain
No man is lifting a thumb
But everybody jump in the water
To rescue a barrel of rum

Thanks for that Mick. Hmmmm; doesn't sound quite as good as I remember and I think I'll have to work on my Caribbean accent, but I think I can have some fun with it. Appreciate your assistance.
