And while I'm at it..

A few years back, I watched a movie (English) about a band of gypsies being chased around the countryside, until they ended up at a pretty run-down farm, where they talked the farmer into letting them stay.

They settled down there and cleaned up the place pretty nicely. But, of course, they were again chased off, and at the end they all got killed (I think).

As far as I can remember, Tom Waits had a part in it as well.

And now for the big question: At the end of the film, as they show the credits, there was a song that really caught my fancy. It sounded like a working song (many voices), and I think the chorus said something about going roving over the fields. (It's not "I'll go no more a-rovin'")

If anyone can figure this one out, like what song and who dunnit, I'll.. I'll... I'd be speachless for at least five seconds.

Could it be "A-rovin'" - in the DT database?

Gee I don't know! I don't recognize the lyrics, and for some reason the bugger won't play, so I can't hear it either.

I'll give it another try later.

Thanks anyway!

Oh, I would appreciate it if anyone knew what film too, seing as I have forgotten.

Did it start out...

'Round goes the wheel of fortune,
Don't be afraid to ride,
For the land of milk and honey
Lies on the other side.
There'll be peace and there'll be plenty,
You'll never need to roam
When we go rolling home, when we go rolling home.

Chorus:
Rolling home, when we go rolling home,
When we go rolling, rolling, when we go rolling home.

The frost is on the hedgerow [something something something]...

I think this was written by the same guy who wrote "My Lady of Autumn;" if that helps at all.

The frost is on the hedgerow [something something]
While we poor weary travellers
Trudge through the ice and snow
Our hearts go out to Heaven
Let's reap what we have sown
When we go rolling home, when we go rolling home.

This may have an inaccurate word or two; never was too sure. If you think this is the song, I can ask my mom about it. They saw some independent movie about gypsies in which this song was included, and they fell in love with it and used it frequently in performance.

Yess! That's it.

I've been thinking about that song for so long, and it's been so frustrating!

Thank you, thank you, I'd kiss you if my lips were long enough.
