got this horrible wulftone on the 12th fret of the 6th string.

I've had it in for a service - £120 - but withinn weeks its back.

what causes this awful noise - sounds like is catching on something, but I can't think what. Its had a new nut and bridge piece.

Only got the guitar bout two years ago - Yamaha LLX16 - so top of the medium price range. I don't want to chuck it, but I play often enough in public for it to be more than a private annoyance.

I know it sounds selfish and immature but I just want it to work, I can't devote my life to buggering about with it, hospital visits etc.

You sure you don't have a fret popping up a bit? You could check that with a trusty straightedge.

If that's ok look for a warp where the neck meets the body as in look up and down the neck as though you were peeping your eyes above the deck of an aircraft carrier--loog along the neck from the nut end then the bridge end.

If that ain't it, look to the gauge of bass string you're using.

After that, I'm hooped.

Thanks Bruce. I'll mention that( with a serious look on my face) when I take it back to the bloke who's serviced it.

However my insights into practical matters of every kind have to be kept clandestine for reasons of idiocy.
