Subject: RE: BS: Snow... This just ain't fair... From: ChanteyLass Date: 04 Mar 13 - 09:50 PM Stay safe, warm, and in homes with power, everyone! Hmm, if that storm is moving up the coast, I wonder what will happen when it hits RI. |
Subject: RE: BS: Snow... This just ain't fair... From: gnu Date: 04 Mar 13 - 09:54 PM I thought RI had an exemption? I mean, it isn't big enough for any snow to land, right? |

Subject: RE: BS: Snow... This just ain't fair... From: Mrrzy Date: 05 Mar 13 - 12:46 PM I'm wondering about my 70-mile commute from Charlottesville to Richmond at 08h00 and then back at 14h00... I wonder if they will call school closed in time for me not to have to leave! |
Subject: RE: BS: Snow... This just ain't fair... From: ChanteyLass Date: 05 Mar 13 - 08:21 PM Very funny, gnu! The weather forecasts indicate that we will be on one side or the other of the rain/snow line, but I guess that is true everywhere! Good luck Mrrzy! I remember driving to school one day through snow. As I turned onto the street where the school is, I saw a few familiar cars coming toward me. School had been cancelled, but that was not announced until after I left the house. I taught in an elementary school. My guess is that the bus drivers tried to pick up high school students and decided No Way! They must have passed on that message to the school superintendent in the town. |
Subject: RE: BS: Snow... This just ain't fair... From: JohnInKansas Date: 05 Mar 13 - 11:38 PM News last night (or whenever it was that I was awake) was that Chicago has had its THIRD MAJOR SNOW STORM within a couple of weeks, and is NOW ONLY 0.1 INCH SHORT of its normal average snowfall for an entire winter. For this winter, they're likely to have "less than average." Ask for a sip and she hits you with a firehose in your face. ... John |
Subject: RE: BS: Snow... This just ain't fair... From: Becca72 Date: 06 Mar 13 - 10:07 AM Considering we've gotten about 6 feet of snow just in February, I have no sympathy for you Bobert my dear. |

Subject: RE: BS: Snow... This just ain't fair... From: Bat Goddess Date: 06 Mar 13 - 01:25 PM A snowstorm before the last snowstorm of February, made it the third snowiest February in New Hampshire history with 41.1" as of 2-25-2013. February 1969 had 49.8" and February 1893 had 59". Tom's got an appointment with his cardiologist tomorrow and we really want to be there, but if we're in the middle of getting the 4-8" they're predicting, Tom is NOT going to be able to get from the house to the car safely and, quite honestly, if the driving sucks, it's a hell of a lot safer for us to NOT drive the 50 miles to the cardiologist and back. I'm really fed up with snow this year. Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: Snow... This just ain't fair... From: Bill D Date: 06 Mar 13 - 01:31 PM It's been snowing like he** off & on here since daylight.... why we must have, oh.... 1/2" on grass & sidewalks and none on the streets. 33-34F... We 'may' get some sticking later, but this storm is fickle.... some areas are getting buried and some are wondering where it is. I'm NOT complaining. |
Subject: RE: BS: Snow... This just ain't fair... From: catspaw49 Date: 06 Mar 13 - 01:35 PM I'm glad we got it all done in Columbus yesterday because the snows hit last night and it took Karen two hours for the usual one hour drive. Warmer temps have helped clear things up but we have a beautiful snowfall and now clear roadways. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Snow... This just ain't fair... From: JohnInKansas Date: 06 Mar 13 - 03:14 PM No significant problems here, although I did cancel a doc appointment last week. It was not because I couldn't get there, but because according to the forecast it was unlikely I'd be able to get home after. The forecasts turned out to be a little overblown, but the couple of hours would have made it a slow trip back. I couldn't predict that a stop at the coffee shop and a couple of cups would have kept me out 'till the roads were mostly cleared - and I hate blowing $10 for $0.50 worth of bad coffee at Starbucks anyhow.
