And here are some addition corrections for the song list titles and credits from Ernie P.:

"Thanks for keeping us in line on Saturday, Charlie. I have a couple of song name updates for you ... The one you have listed as "Fog Rolling IN" is actually titled "Newfoundlander", and was written by Bob Bossin. The one you have listed as "One More Time" is actually "Billy's Boat", and was, indeed, written by Bob Stuart."

Cheerily,
Charley Noble, scribe

Well, Tom hasn't had a singing voice since vocal cord cancer in 2009, Sandra, but I certainly have missed singing at this and the Friday sessions for the past month. (And desperately miss singing with Tom, although I've been learning and singing some of his songs.)

Charlie Ipcar, Judy Barrows, Dianne Lavoie, Ernie Pigeon, Don Hale, Steve Smith, Steve W (Steve Craft?), Mike Modern, Peter Bixby, Martin - MartyS (Marty Stock?), and Justine Donovan? Plus Bill Lehrman and Carol Pierson.

A couple of notes re: the song list. Regarding the attendees, would Martin and Marty S be one and the same (Marty Stock, who sang)?

#12 I have as "Farewell To Carlingford".
#21 I have as "Shenandoah"
#29 I have as "Farewell To Tarwathie"
#31 I learned as "The Holy Ground"
#50 Should be "Davy Lowston" (originally "Loweriston", C.1810)

Charlie missed Carol P and Bill L in his list of attendees. We were there, although we did come in a little late.

Tom and I both got a really good night's sleep last night -- to bed early and awoke late (almost 7:30 for me, and that's LATE!).

Who all was there?

Thanks, Don, for reporting in.

Another good session! I believe Charley was acting as our designated scribe. We await his report. We did miss you both, but as always, discretion is the better part of honor. Rest, rest, rest!

Thanks, Charley, for being the designated responsible adult...

I got a short nap, but it really wasn't enough. I don't function well on too little sleep and I don't think I trust myself behind the wheel of a car.

Have a grand time this afternoon and make the rafters roar.

And be nice to your server. Not sure who will be on today. Ari, alas, has moved on to a job with no late night hours.

Session will go on as scheduled, but we probably won't be there. Remember, live music is a legal requirement for the Press Room's license! Sing! Drink beer!

Tom and I both slept well...just really not long enough. I need a nap (and I've been up for less than two hours) and Tom is aching and his head hurts, but is in good spirits.

We kept our sense of humor through the ordeal waiting in the ER. How LOUD ERs are! Sort of a John Cage cacaphony -- the exit door loudly banging shut over and over again behind me, and the various bells and beeps were almost orchestrated. Every time we thought we'd heard all the individual noises, a new one would introduce itself.

Tom fell tonight on the sidewalk in front of The Press Room (gust of wind caught him) and he put a gash in the back of his head that required stitches.

Took him to Lee Urgent Care which is on the way home (and close to home) and he got in right away (at 5:30 PM), but because he's on blood thinners, he needed a CAT scan to make sure there was no blood leakage in the brain. They couldn't do that, so sent us (sort of backtracking at a different angle) to the Emergency Room at Wentworth-Douglass in Dover.

And there we waited. And waited. The ER was busy tonight. By about 7 we got out of the waiting room and Tom got into a bed in the hallway in the ER to wait another two hours before finally getting that scan. After that things started moving faster and he was stitched up and we were out of there by 11 PM. (Arghhh...only seven hours after he fell.)

I have no idea when we'll finally get to sleep tonight. I have no clue as to how the fall (even without the gash in the head) will make Tom feel tomorrow. I have no idea how I'LL feel tomorrow...

I'll keep you all posted, here and at Facebook. I may have to call on a substitute adult influence to take charge of the session.

Sound like fun, Sandra! Wish there was a door I could walk through and end up in Sydney.

We just sing...oh, and drink beer and maybe talk about the songs. We try to keep things lively in the pub. Can't fit a ship in there, alas. So the only tours are of the loo and out to the street to put more money in the meter. And everyone else keeps singing!

members of the Sydney shanty singers were impressed by the 59 shanties you got thru last month!

We never sing anything like that number in our monthly session on the James Craig - maybe we spend too long on our supper break! But you do have 4 hours, we only have 3 hours which includes supper & a tour of the ship for any newcomers.

Looking forward to reports of the March session.

sandra (hello Charley & Judy )

Our monthly shanty, forebitter, and ballad song session will be happening this Saturday, March 16th, at The Press Room on Daniel St. in Portsmouth, NH from 3:30 to 7:30 PM. In honor of St. Patrick's Day, Irish non-seafaring songs are, of course, welcome.

Tom has missed the past three weekly Friday trad sessions since the last sea music session, thanks to his hospital stay and (last Friday) the weather. I'm really hoping he'll be there Saturday and we'll be shooting for the Friday session as well. I just hope our driveway doesn't get any worse... (See Curmudgeon hospitalization thread below the line.)

The weather looks like it should be sunny and dry. I think the only precipitation this week will be some rain on Tuesday. Quite honestly, I hope even that gives us a miss and we have wind and sun to dry up the remaining snow and mud.

See you there!
Linn
