Subject: BS: Canada, Scam From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 14 Mar 13 - 04:05 PM I received an email from "Shaw Inc." stating that they could not process my last payment, and to re-submit my payment information. A call to Shaw's Customer Service, which provides telephone, cable and internet access found that they notify customers only by letter, and that the email was an attempt to get my account information. Beware of any attempts to get account information. Always verify by contacting the service provider by 'phone or letter mail to check status of your account. |
Subject: RE: BS: Canada, Scam From: Charmion Date: 14 Mar 13 - 04:39 PM We get such come-ons from scammers pretending to be PayPal, Facebook, Bell Canada, Rogers Communications, Visa and Mastercard, and several chartered banks, all enterprises that never do business by e-mail using the "click this link" method. I often wonder just how stupid they think we are? |
Subject: RE: BS: Canada, Scam From: GUEST,999 Date: 14 Mar 13 - 04:55 PM It's a good heads-up. Thank you, Q. And as Charmion says, reputable companies do NOT do business via email |
Subject: RE: BS: Canada, Scam From: gnu Date: 14 Mar 13 - 05:16 PM Good point, 9. Rogers is far more sophisticated at fucking over their customers. I have been in a three month battle with them over trying to fuck over my 86 year old mother on her cable bill... it's down to $1.62. And, the Ides of March are almost upon them. I shall get that $1.62 back or I will... ahhh... have them fuck me over too? >;-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Canada, Scam From: GUEST,999 Date: 14 Mar 13 - 05:48 PM Don't fu#kin' talk to me about Rogers. I will send my ghost to visit their damned executive decision makers after I die. |
Subject: RE: BS: Canada, Scam From: JohnInKansas Date: 14 Mar 13 - 06:04 PM A recently reported slight variant is the email that says someone has charged $100 worth of pizzas on your credit card and they need to have you confirm the order, with a button that says CANCEL THIS ORDER if you didn't authorize the purchase. There IS NO ORDER. They don't know your account info. But if you click the "cancel" button it gives permission for download of a very nasty Trojan to your machine, that will soon have everything. Subject: RE: BS: Canada, Scam From: GUEST,999 Date: 14 Mar 13 - 08:14 PM John, thanks to many of your posts to do with computers I never have--for five or so years--opened links in any emails. So far, you have cost me about twenty billion dollars, seven nights with Natasha in Moscow, a dozen prepaid vacations on the Queen Marie Exotic Cruise Ship and free grass for the rest of my life if I don't smoke more than two hundred and fifty joints a day. Fu#kin' thanks, man. |
Subject: RE: BS: Canada, Scam From: GUEST,Charmion's brother Andrew Date: 14 Mar 13 - 10:34 PM The only thing worse than having Rogers as your ISP and telephone services provider is having Bell as your ISP and telephone services provider. BOHICA. |
