Just heard Terry Lightfoot died on Friday, a week after his old sideman Kenny Ball. I first came across Terry's band at a London theatre, can't remember which one, in 1959 when he was support to New Orleans trombone legend Kid Ory and his band, which included the great Henry 'Red' Allen on trumpet. Can't be many of the old gang left now although Chris Barber, Acker Bilk and Wally Fawkes are still blowing strong.

When my time comes, I'm taking my banjo as well as my guitar! I've got some great jamming to look forward to.

The Kid Ory/Red Allen Band London show was at the Gaumont State Theatre, Kilburn if my memory is correct.
