Subject: RE: Origins: You'll Miss Me (Blind Alfred Reed) From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Date: 22 Mar 13 - 09:13 PM Thanks for the authors Stewie. (I just noticed I put 1928 for the recording above - it was meant to be 1929). You can see the full info for the recording in the Victor Discography page: Blind Alfred Reed - You'll Miss Me. Perhaps a mudelf can insert the credits: (Delehanty, Hengler) below the title lines in the transcriptions above. I can't locate the original sheet music. There are a lot of songster that Delehanty and Hengler contributed to, but none that I can read online. Mick |

Subject: Lyr Add: YOU'LL MISS ME (Blind Alfred Reed) From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Date: 21 Mar 13 - 08:34 PM You can hear the 1928 recording here: Blind Alfred Reed - You'll Miss Me and my transcription is below. There's a short Mudcat thread on Blind Alfred Reed here: here. The Dust Busters' version is slightly different and I've put their version below too. Mick YOU'LL MISS ME I'm geting old and feeble now, my hair is turning grey, My limbs that once were nimble now they're stiff and won't obey, My dancing days are over and my pleasures they have flown For goodness, not for greatness, love, would you miss me when I'm gone. Oh, when I'm gone you'll miss me, when I'm gone. (you'll miss me) Some kind heart will miss me when I'm gone. (when I'm gone) When I'm gone you'll miss me? When I'm gone you'll miss me? Oh, some kind heart will miss me when I'm gone. What will you do without me, love, when the Winter time comes on? Who'll throw their arms around you love, as I have often done; Who'll hug you, caress you when I above have flown> Oh, you'll know where to find me love but you'll miss me when I'm gone. Who'll fence the little yard in, who'll nurse the pretty flower?. Who'll fence the little garden where we sat for many an hour? Our children they're all married and left us here alone And when I'm dead and buried, love, you'll miss me when I'm gone. Subject: Origins: Will You Miss Me...? (NOT Carter Family) From: GUEST Date: 21 Mar 13 - 07:25 PM So can anyone tell what the original source recording was/is for this number? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTKaKMBESn0 The only things it seems to share with the Carters is it's title and it's chorus. Also, I'm having some trouble with transcribing the second verse, I would appreciate assistance with that as well. |
