Subject: Just Because You Like to Do It - lyrics

I got a request for these lyrics on here:

Just Because You Like To Do It, That Don't Make It Right

God come to Noah, late one day, said, Son, I got a job for you

I'm getting mighty tired of these people 'round here doin' what they want to do

I've told them once, I've told them twice

They never want to listen to my advice

So build yourself a boat, and get on out of here before it rains

Chorus:

Now, I ain't been to Heaven, but I've been told

The streets up there, are lined with gold

I ain't been to Hell, but from what I hear

It can get mighty hot down there

So you better mind your manners, watch your P's and Q's

'Cause you don't know when God's watching you

And just because you like to do it, that don't make it right

God sent Jonah across the sea in the belly of a whale

He sent him on down to Ninevah, and he lived to tell the tale

He told them people, better mind your ways

You better get ready for the judgment day

And just because you like to do it, that don't make it right

Now you can read it in the papers and the magazines, this world's about to go to Hell

Kids are shooting drugs, kids are shooting kids, and things too fierce to tell

You can do what you do, you can say what you say

But you better get ready for the judgment day

And just because you like to do it, that don't make it right

While I'm at it, the song is done in the key of C. The chord progression on the verses is: C, F,D(change on "doin'".C, C7, F, A7flat, C, A, D, G, C, A7flat.

I made up the chord aI'm calling A7 flat. It's just an A7 chord position shifted down one fret... Barring the first 4 strings at the first fret, and using your third finger to hold down the top string on the second fret.

The chorus goes in to F, back to C, to D, to G. You should be able to figure it out from there... watch the video if you can't, or post a question on here.

Jerry
