Well, I gotta admit that lotta times when I gotta pee and I'm outside and live in 6 very secluded acres so...

...hey, ya' gotta go, ya' gotta go...

Seems that a neighbor's son saw me pee... No, I had my back to him and best I can figure he was at least 400 feet from me but his mom said something to me... She was kinda trying to laugh it off but why bring it up if it ain't nothin'...

So, to pee or not to pee, that is the question... In the woods, that is and at least 400 feet from anyone seein' ya' peein'...

Just to muddy the "waters" a bit...
There is a stretch of hiking trail in SC that skirts a protected watershed. It is legal to pee on the north side of the trail but, technically, not on the south side. Not that I've ever seen anyone there to enforce it.

It's illegal in UK to wee anywhere in public. But people have to be a bit tolerant. I don't think anybody minds someone moving a little way off the road, turning their back and using a tree or bushes for cover. It's weeing by drunks in the street or shop doorways that annoys. I always am amused when I see cars parked along the highway and kids proped up near passenger doors "weeing" Or, observing people parking by the side of the road, attempting to cross water filled ditches and other obstacles to get in the woods to do # 1 or #2. Well LH, it does seem as if there are far too many flashers and worse hanging around these days. And men needing a wee are probably a bit cautious about being seen and their actions wrongly construed. I did warn my husband about public weeing (because in Africa it's perfectly acceptable, as there are no public loos and no-one thinks anything of it.) He was amazed that it's technically illegal here. But he was also delighted with the cleanliness of the public loos in shopping malls and stores.

Used to be back in the Indian times that you just took care of your calls of nature right out there IN nature, and no one thought anything of it. There were no "bathrooms" available at all....just meadows, forests, rivers, mountainsides....

Things have gone a bit downhill since the early 1500s. You now have to search around desperately for a little official room to do your thing inside of, so no one will see and a cop won't arrest you.

Indians would have been simultaneously amused and appalled at this, I imagine.

I pee in my backyard in town all the time, just last evening for that matter. The tornado of 2011 means we have a new privacy fence but many missing trees and the church next door is gone, so it's no easier not to be seen from the neighbouring windows. No matter, it's my risk and my property so I don't care. Peeing in the holes that the dogs dig seems to discourage them from digging there again (as does burying their own excrement there). Otherwise I'm not too discriminating, as long as I think I'm not visible.

Up north in the woods likewise, I simply go when I need to go, as long as I'm not exposed. Well, I won't pee on a path.

The amazing expanding prostate sometimes doesn't give one a choice. This is why it's nice to be perfectly comfortable doing it at the side of the road too.

Peeing in the woods? what about peeing into the stream? after years of being trained not to pee in the stream/creek/river, I went on a raft trip down the Green River in Utah where we were instructed to pee in the water.....hard thing to get used to. the area has so little rain and so many campers on the river that if everyone peed around the camp sites it would be a stinkin' mess. Speaking of messes, we had to pack out our poop....for which we employed an ammo box fitted with a toilet seat...

this peeing in the stream deal is common practice on the colorado river and many others...especially in the west...does anyone else have experience with this?

oh, and I have heard that there is a fish in the amazon, Candirus, which is rumoured to swim into people's orafices if they pee in the amazon river. there have been cases of these fish lodged in penis and vagina, so watch out!
