Mairearad and Anna (Mairearad Green and Anna Massie), Edinburgh Folk Club, Wednesday 10th April 2013.

Without doubt, these are two of the finest musicians in Scotland at the moment, for the past few years, and I'm quite sure in the the future too and anyone who thinks otherwise is surely daft.

"Multi-instrumentalists and award winners, Mairearad Green (accordion and bagpipes) and Anna Massie (guitar, banjo, fiddle) are an instantly captivating duo, providing a highly energetic performance with a warm and friendly stage presence.

Having both grown up in the Scottish Highlands with similar musical backgrounds (most notably, mandolin playing Dads!) Mairearad and Anna share an innate understanding of Scottish culture and music. They have an intuitive approach to each other's musical ideas and interpretations, and an "almost telepathic communication" on stage (Hi-Arts), honed through ten years playing alongside one another.

As well as their acclaimed endeavours as a duo – which have produced five star reviews and a fan base featuring KT Tunstall – individually Mairearad and Anna can also be seen performing with a number of well-known artists; The Poozies, Blazin' Fiddles, Karen Matheson, Bella Hardy, and Box Club, and together they join Scotland's one and only Celtic Big Band, The Unusual Suspects.

Very sorry I won't be able to get along this, but would like to encourage anyone who might be unsure.

This night will be everything that Johnny J says -- two grand musicians with intuitive connection, a rake of great tunes and a lovely warmth in performance.

Thanks, Anne.

Much appreciated endorsement especially from someone as highly respected and knowledgeable as yourself.
