In an attempt to be more popular with the Republicans, Obama is cutting Social Security payments.

First, the president cannot change laws, that is the legislature's job.

Second, the Republican position is to give 100% of the money Social Security recipients that they were promised, regardless of "need". The people paid that money as demanded and should get what they were promised.

Third, about 43% of all federal welfare program payments are based on fraud. Getting that money back where it belongs would mean there is no need to cut Social Security (or anything else).

What the hell does Social Security (or the Postal Service, for that matter) have to do with the budget or the deficit? Medicare's a different story--it's funded from the general tax revenue pool.

No, cutting Social Security is not part of the Republican agenda, it is part of the Socialist agenda to redistribute wealth. Think "means testing". It means you don't give "those rich guys" anything, even if they paid into the system and were promised that money back.

The Republicans do not like Obama. He has treated them as blood enemies and uses Chicago Mob tactics to destroy them.

how about we start putting the blame where it really belongs...

the folks who think that the taxes that I pay into social security and then will have to pay income taxes on when I finally get to collect is part of a "free loading entitlement"... take a good look at the real takers in our society.

Any employees as over paid and under productive as the current members of congress would have been handed their pink slips a long time ago... but instead we let them continue in office and create laws that protect their salaries and benefits.

The same folks who obstruct anything and everything that they were supposedly sent to Washington to do... take care of the country... the whole country and not just a few favored ones.

The proposed cuts are there to try and get the sh*theads in Congress to do their d*mn jobs. You don't like it, then we need to do something to that WILL make them do their jobs. Not just whine about how one man can't do it all on his own.

Because the NEXT President wil be having the same problem... unless of course we just give away the country & economy to the GOP & their 1% cronies.

Politicians all over the western world have been cutting social programs for quite some time now. This is because the rich don't need social programs. The rest of us do, of course, but we don't run the governments. We just watch...rather as rats watch from the gutter while the big limousines roll by.

**In an attempt to be more popular with the Republicans, Obama is cutting Social Security payments.**

Although I'm inclined to defend Obama or any other president, the above statement is just plain false.

Obama has OFFERED a "chained CPI" is a way of measuring inflation and reducing spending. It has the effect of limiting cost-of-living increases for social security payments, medicare and veteran benefits. For this reason, most democrats oppose the offer.

**Follows a Republican agenda. They love him.**

Also false, quite obviously. Boehner, for one, opposes chained CPI because he sees it as a tax increase in disguise.

For the record, I am not in favor of Obama's proposal either but that's all it is--a proposal, an offer. And it likely will go nowhere. I think Obama wants to show voters that even when he goes against his party and offers the GOP something some of their bigwigs say is essential to the welfare of the country, they turn it down because he--Obama--is offering it and for no other reason. This is all a run-up to the midterms next year when the White House is hoping the voters throw the GOP out of the House.

Then again, I'm not explaining this to the OP because he knows perfectly well what he said is not true. This is an open post for anyone without an agenda who cares to read it and do their own research.

It may come as a surprise to some... but the office of President is President of the United United States of America ( despite the rampant disunity we see today).

It is NOT President of the winning party... despite the 8 years of W.

And if President Obama is so cozy with the GOP, how do you explain the obstruction that is constantly thrown at his nominees? Hagel has been branded a traitor to the GOP... yup, that sure speaks volumes.

Instead of generating arguments over non factual situations... we should be having dialogue about how our current elected officials seem to work for everyone except the country at large. Because they are weakening America for short sighted gains that will be lost when the ship of state starts to sink.

You know, I don't think you can entirely fault Obama for using Republicans in his cabinet..I mean maybe a guy from another party might just be the sharper cookie....at least almost as sharp as all those lobbyists he said he would not put in his cabinet, either, but did!....with Great transparency, to boot!...or is that a jack boot? Nonetheless, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Reagan, Carter....all front men..lead singers...but don't know how to play an instrument(except Clinton)..who can't read music...just do what sounds best...or at least plausible!

I think I can fault Obama for using Republicans in his cabinet.
The Democratic Party spent millions of dollars getting him elected.
Every Republican he puts into a position of power is a kick in the teeth to them.
If we decide to wage war with North Korea will we hire North Korean Generals to plan our battles and campaigns?
Of course not.
Obama is a traitor to his party.
That is, if you believe the show we are presented is real.
I think it's more like the professional wrestling they show on TV.

The Democratic Party has been corrupted by big lobbies that pay for the candidates and the intrusion of the military industrial complex. There have been reactionary forces in both Democratic and Republican Parties to gut FDR's New Deal which includes Social Security.
There is a Republican lie that Social Security is bankrupt and many Democrats have bought it.

The deficit is lower now than it has been under previous administrations but you're not going to hear that from either Party.

Obama has metaphorically made a "pact with the devil" on the issue of Social Security and the XL Pipeline as a political move to tax the wealthy (not that much BTW).

He is slowly betraying his legacy. He is a Wall Street guy. He is not going to say "I welcome their hatred" because he is one of them.

**Obama gives cabinet positions to Republicans.**

Most presidents give certain cabinet positions to the opposition party. Bush had Norm Mineta as Transportation Secretary, for example (which explains why Anne Coulter hated him so much). Clinton hired William Cohen if I remember correctly. Obama has hired 4, I believe.

It's nothing new. Par for the course.

So has Niggardly Bastard actually brought up anything worth discussing or is all this actually news to him?

Obama attacks Medicare and Social Security

6 April 2013

The Obama administration will release a budget proposal next week that includes deep cuts to Medicare and Social Security.

The leak of details of the president's budget plan by White House officials comes within days of another news item that received scant attention in the media: The sequestration order signed into law by President Obama on March 1 is resulting in thousands of patients being turned away from cancer clinics due to cuts to Medicare reimbursement for expensive chemotherapy drugs.

Taken together, these two stories reveal the bipartisan assault being plotted by the Democrats and Republicans in Washington against Medicare, the health care program for the elderly and disabled, and Social Security, the government retirement program. Behind the public wrangling between Barack Obama and congressional Republicans over "deficit reduction," the ruling elite is united in its drive to gut these two vital government programs, and ultimately dismantle them.

News that cancer clinics would be turning away Medicare patients in the thousands—and forcing them to seek treatment at higher prices in hospitals, which may not be able to handle the influx of patients—was not the occasion for an outcry from the political and media establishment. The development was reported in the Washington Post 's online blog, not its print edition, and received no coverage on network television news. The New York Times has not reported on it.

The Obama administration's budget proposal, front-page news Friday, contains cuts that will further undermine the health and well being of the elderly, disabled and other recipients of Social Security and Medicare. It sets a ten-year target for deficit reduction of $1.8 trillion, above and beyond the $2.5 trillion that the president and congressional Republicans have agreed to cut since 2011, bringing the total to $4.3 trillion.

If the relatively small cuts produced by the sequester have already led to the cutoff of life-saving treatment to tens of thousands of people, cuts on the scale proposed by Obama and the congressional Republicans mean a social catastrophe.

http://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2013/04/06/pers-a06.html

Link maker not working. The article is from the World Socialist Website. Read the rest of it.

My summation: The banks own our politicians. Obama is proposing to cut social programming, while he accuses the opposition of wanting to cut social programming. Quit falling for the scam.

Obama's budget proposal comes out on April 10, and that day will mark the beginning of the end for the Democratic party. Even Obama's blindest supporters on the far left will be forced to see what he's done, and the party will not recover in time for the 2016 presidential election. A fascist Republican will be the next occupant of the white house.

Democrats need to impeach Obama after he moves to gut social programming on April 10. Republicans can't impeach him; it has to be done by Democrats. If Obama is brought down because of his anti-social behavior, then perhaps the rush to fascist austerity in America can be slowed or stopped. But the Democrats will need to lead the impeachment, so it can't be attributed to "bi-partisan wrangling."

There was a time long ago when I actually felt that our government and our elected officials were actually working for the best interest of our country and people. Not that there weren't some bad apples, not that mistakes weren't made and even covered up for a time, but that the overall direction was one of good intent.

Only a fool or someone completely in denial could hold that view now. Simply on scale alone we have the most corrupt government on earth. There are certainly many, many worse governments, but based only on corruption, on total amount of money involved, we must be at the top of the heap.

The ones most responsible for our current sad state are Wall Street, giant corporations, who dedicated decades and billions, legions of lawyers to deregulate laws prohibiting corruption, followed by legions of lobbyists, highly paid tools, who were often selected by their corporate masters and groomed to "appeal" to the general public for elected office, with copious amounts of advertising dollars pumped through the willing prostitutes of corporate media to legitimize the "candidate". After serving a term or two(provided they "played" the game), with suitable "connections" established in the halls of power, the politician/lobbyist returns with cash and often ready written bills, beneficial to the corporate sponsor, for their "connections" to pass through congress. For Wall Street a great system, if you can stand the smell, for ordinary American families with no representation, not so much. It also helps to have a thoroughly corrupted supreme court, to put the whole stink fest on afterburner, in order to betray the American people, with the Citizens United decision.

And there you have it in a nutshell. Why, if this is the case, aren't Americans marching on Washington in the millions? We're all numb. We're all tired. Working all the hours of the day and night, no vacation, no pension, can barely feed the kids and pay the rent. In short we've been "corporatized", we've been "wallmarted". So far the Demons (Dimons) are winning.
..........................

The recently departed head of JP Morgan had this to say ""Over four years has passed since the greatest financial collapse in the history of this nation," Diamond [Dimon] recounts, "and still no one on Wall Street has been held accountable for the crimes which have been committed.

"Washington says they can't find one single banker guilty of fraud. I can think of 15 people off the top of my head who should be behind bars.

"Why aren't more people in jail? If you rob a bank, you go to jail. If a bank robs you, it gets a bailout. We need to end this cycle of impunity on Wall Street. And I am prepared to testify against my fellow bankers if need be.

"Let me explain how this system works," Dimon writes. "Politicians protect us from competition and criminal prosecution, and in return we give them money to use in their campaigns.

"There's only one word to describe such an arrangement: bribery. And you know what's really insane? Its not even illegal. Those idiots in Washington actually write laws regulating the manner in which they would like to be bribed."

From a friend of mine....
