Wayne,
Re. your comments, Kathie (one of the organisers) and me are calling in at the New Inn tonight to thank the landlord and staff and yes there was talk of a regular session setting up there, so watch this space.
As for another one next year, well ............. A local farmer has mentioned about use of his land for a festival Campsite over a weekend and both the New Inn and the Thornhill are up for it so again watch this space.

Cheers

Muppett

Shame I couldn't have stayed longer but it was already fairly buzzing when I left!

Any chance of round two happening next year?

There was a rumour of a regular monthly session starting in the New Inn. Anybody got any details?

Wayne

Yes it were a "reet good doo" as Muppet might say. I sang a few songs in the Thornhill Arms, a nice session going on in there. Then walked up the hill to watch a cracking performance from Johns band in the New Inn, - a very pleasant and enjoyable evening.

We had a meeting last night and after visiting the pubs, here's the cunning plan plan for the day!
There will be Singers & Musicians sessions throughout the day from opening time till closing time, in the Thornhill Arms and Conservative Club, whilst in the New Inn, the following will happen;
1pm - 2pm Singers & Musicians Session with Muppett
2pm - 2.30pm Heather Woodward
2.30 - 3pm Singers & musicians session with Muppett
3pm - 4.45pm Reel Jiggy
4.45pm - 5.15pm Eddy Lawler
5.15pm - 6pm Rum Doodle
6.pm - 6.30pm Tim Wyatt
6.30pm - 8pm Open Mike, book a 20 mins spot
8pm - 8.30pm Anjaana - Panjabi Folk band
9pm - 11.30pm Jon Palmer Band

Food will be available in both the Thornhill Arms and the New Inn and they both serve Real Ale. The New Inn will also be doing a festival BBQ. there's also a Chippy in the village that'll be open till late afternoon.
Also on the day in the village there'll be a arts and crafts Sale in the Methodists Chapel and at champion house, the local care home they'll be a summer fete.

So if you can make it I'll see you there

Cheers

Muppett

Bleedin miles apart, nay lad wot you on about, the New Inn is one venue we're using, t'other one is the Thornhill Arms which is 2 to 3 mins walk max. along the Rd. Then the Cricket club is another venue being used is in the park which is opposite the New Inn and the Conservative club is at the t'other side of the park and again 2 to 3 mins walk from the New inn.
I suppose if you are an Olympic middle distance standard runner then you can cover a fair distance in 2 to 3 minutes, but for us mere mortals 2 to 3 minutes walk doesn't cover many yards !!!!!!!!!
Calverley doesn't just consist of the Main Rd that connects Shipley and Leeds, when you next go through, get out of your car and see.

Cheers
Muppett

Good point Betsy I'll mention it to the other organisers, however all the venues are very close to each other, within a few hundred yards or so.

Hi Muppet,
Best of Luck with your event.
May I make this small comment - I think it would be an idea to allocate one of the venues to be concentrating on just Musician Sessions.
It just saves musicians carting their gear from one venue to another looking for a sesh and where perhaps only one or two musicians are in each venue - waiting or looking for each other. A Focal point if you like.
Then they also know which venue to park near.
What d'ya think ?.
It was just an idea.
Success
Betsy
