So sorry to hear about Sue's passing. I have been friends with Golden Bough for a long time and they stayed with me here in the Netherlands while Sue was with them. A lovely lady and a great musician. One of those special people that you sometimes have the good fortune to meet. Condolences to all who knew her.

I never got to meet her, but her playing on Peelers Creek Waltz (Blue Ridge Field Trip album) was as much of an influence on my fiddling as any one recorded tune could have been. A revelation in what pure expression could be. No ego/pure voice. Wish I'd told her.

A lovely, lovely lady and a fine fiddler, and I'm privileged to have jammed with her and Golden Bough a few times when we played festivals in California. My sympathy and condolences to her partner.

A warm and generous person. She worked part time at a local record shop and one day I brought something to the counter to buy and she said "Good album. I'm on that." I had known her from my record collection for many years but didn't recognize her and never knew she worked in my favorite record shop. Thank you for all the music Sue. You'll be missed.

David E.

I didn't know she was a yank as she played on "A Maid in Bedlam" with the John Renbourn Group. It's one of my favorite recordings largely because of her playing with her lovely, round tone and lyrical phrasing.
It seems she had a varied and interesting career and remained on the music making end of the business. Rest easy and thanks.

I really liked the work she did with John Renbourn and Richard Thompson. I never met her, but I'm still sorry she's gone on too soon. May she rest in peace.

There was a wonderful concert in her honor - all proceeds for her and her partner's expenses - earlier this month, at the Freight & Salvage coffeehouse. The concert was a gathering of the folk and classical scene in the Bay Area going back many years.

I'm sorry to say that the great American folk fiddler Sue Draheim passed away in the arms of her partner Wayde Blair in the early hours of Thursday April 11.
