Subject: Song from 'The Dead' From: clj Date: 05 Nov 99 - 04:54 PM I don't know whether or not this is a 'real' song-but-it was moving. I wonder if someone remembers the 'Lass of Aughrim (sic)' song the tenor sang as Angelica Huston's character walked downstairs reminding her of the boy who died from standing in the rain to say goodbye. Thanks, clj |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Song from 'The Dead' From: Lonesome EJ Date: 05 Nov 99 - 05:50 PM It was a classic scene, and one of the most touching uses of music in film ever. I too would love to have the lyrics. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Song from 'The Dead' From: Martin Ryan Date: 08 Nov 99 - 11:50 AM Never! We just missed it! The song is usually known in Ireland as "Lord Gregory" - Scottish versions as "Lass of Loch Ryle (?)". Its in the DT. It was a great favourite of Joyce's - he was a goood tenor himself. Regards p.s. There was a thread some time ago..... |
