Don't see where this has been addressed. Please move it to a more appropriate section if need be.

We've been downloading eBooks for an older member of the family. His eyesight's going bad but he loves to read, so we set him up with an old PC and a program called MobiPocket reader. It's pretty cool. You can change fonts, font size and color, background color, column arrangement, and so on. It also bookmarks and reopens whatever you're reading at the point where you left off. It's a free download, too.

This site has books that seem particularly well suited to reading with Mobipocket. They must use a template for formatting. All the books we've downloaded so far seem glitch free.

We've only downloaded the public domain, free books, but for the first time in my life I can now say I have a complete set of Dickens. We have all of Proust's Remembrance of Things Past, lots and lots of others. There is a lot of Golden Age sci-fi on this site. All 14 Oz books, all 8 Anne of Green Gables. Things like that.

We're downloading and saving. Some of you might want to look into it too.

Archive's not opening for me right now. If I recall correctly, they have an excellent version of The Golden Bough there. Lots of links, nicely formatted.

Move this down to BS if you want. Just thought that readers with developing vision problems might want to see it.

Been using a Kindle for a year or so. Very useful - but the model I have is very limited when handling PDF files. Those I tend to handle on my Mac. I use the calibre software to manage my library for both devices. Very powerful.

Just to thread creep this a little.
Have any other catters published any eBooks, music or otherwise?

I have done my Anglo concertina tutor and have now done a pictoral record of a collection of model aircraft. In both cases it has been a way to produce a document that is quite a niche topic and where a physical copy might not be the best way to proceed.

I suppose that this is another parallel creative process, in the way that many of the musically creative seem to have other creative interests.
