Good luck with the club. I'm not a million miles away. Might make it over one time.

Much too far for me, but I do visit my son in Leicester from time and not so far from there I don't think, so will keep an eye out for events when I do go visiting. Good luck with it all!

Good to see this. My Mum and Dad live in Oakham and when I'm visiting them I'll definitely keep an eye on the proceedings at this club!

Well done! Stamford is a great town. Too far for me sadly, but good luck with the venture. In these straightened times it seems a bit of a risk, financially, but, Im sure you've gone through all the possible pitfalls. Good On Yer!

Good to see this thread. We used to go to clubs around the area in years gone by. The first one I went to was in Ryhall and we even had one for a few weeks at our home in Broad Street when the club from the Brewery Museum lost their home. The last one we attended, before moving from Stamford, was in a pub belonging to Humphrey Smith - can't remember the name of the pub at the moment - but I suppose, in view of Humph's attitude over music, must be defunct now.

All the best of luck for the future.

Rhiannon

Foundry Folk is a new fortnightly folk club at the Tobie Norris in Stamford, combining concert nights with singarounds and sessions. Excellent real ales and ciders in a beautiful pub.

Tonight is the first event, featuring Ruth Notman. She's supported by Jonny Mohin singing the songs of Jake Thackray. Tickets are £10, and there are a few left.

Upcoming events include singaround/session nights on 5 and 19 May, and concerts with Haddo (Will and Nicky Pound) on 2June and O'Hooley & Tidow on 30 June.

For more info, search "Foundry Folk" on Facebook.
