Our faith in the present dies out long before our faith in the future.

If George Carlin is to be believed, there is no present ever. There can only be the recent past and the immediate future because as soon as the future gets here its gone, history. I guess we have to make the most of the future from now on, doing so in present will be too late.

Don

Ah fill the cup what boots it to repeat
How time is slipping underneath our feet
Unborn tomorrow and dead yesterday
Why fret abou them if TODAY be sweet

The Moving finger writes and having writ
Moves on: nor all your piety nor wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a line
Nor all thy tears wash out a word of it
The Fitzgerald translation of "Omar Khyyam"

Oh dear, I'm going to do it again, so please bear with me!!!

As a Christian, I have to start each day with a new faith. I can go to bed at night on the top of the world, praising God left right and centre, and wake up feeling like s**t.

I can believe in something one day, and wonder why the hell I bothered the next.

Praise God that, when I feel like letting go of Him,He doesn't let go of me.

That Carlinian philosophy might be interesting to trace. Brilliant he is, but he didn't come up with that one all on his lonesome.
