Qualcomm, Inc. holds their large Earth Day celebration at their campus here in San Diego on Wednesday APril 24th.

This year, Mudcat Amos will be providing acoustic entertainment for the meandering crowds, from about 10:30 to 1:30. If you're in the neighborhood come on by -- it's outside of Qualcomm's "Building N" just south of Lusk Boulevard between Mira Mesa Blvd and Morehouse.

Another San Diego company--Deering Banjo!--will also be represented and will be giving free banjo lessons, I am told. It's been a long time since I did an open solo gig, but it's a walking public for the most part. I think it will be a whole rasher of fun.

Well, that's done, and well done, but the strangest gig I ever played. A sort of tented platform in the middle of a fair celebrating Earth Day and green thinking. I stood there and played for several hours. There were hundreds of people milling around, talking High Geek, chewing on organic sandwiches and looking at the exhibits. A few of them stopped and listened for a few seconds and one gang ate their whole lunch on the steps listening. But for the most part it was kinda bouncing off the ears, so to speak. Nevertheless the organizers were hapoy with it and gave me a Kindle and a big booth sign with my name on it which is now in the garage.

Oh, yeah, it was fun; I got a free banjo lesson from Barry Hunn of Deering Banjo, and saw a Porsche that had been revamped to all-electric by an engineer at QualComm, and a whole lot of pretty women, and some good coffee. Glad it's behind me. I had my own personal sound man, too. Easy duty for him.
