I have just seen the news that Peaches Geldof and her husband have a new son ,whom they have decided to call Phaedra . Anyone with a half-decent education could (and should ) have told her that Phaedra is a GIRL'S name , and that in Greek mythology she was the wife of Theseus and the sister of Ariadne !! Oh well ,that is what can happen if you name your child after your favourite band !!

No need for an education when there's the internet. No that I care a jot what they call their kids, but it does seem a bit of an oversight. It's not like there aren't plenty of boys names from mythology to choose from.

Well ,if the proud parents already KNEW that Phaedra was a girl's name ,why didn't they go the whole hog and call their son Phaedra Penelope Helen Hecate Cassandra Iphigenia Pandora (can't think of any more ) Geldof ?? They may as well !

Perhaps they have joined the politically correct group and just gone a little too far. We still folk dance with men and women (even if we have never enough men and the "women" wear a coloured band to signify which partner they are - but we understand many American dance groups have left hand and right hand lines! Problem with that is it depends whether you are looking to the top or bottom of a set!!!
