Subject: RE: MGAS gotta gig at Herga UK 13th May 2013 From: My guru always said Date: 15 May 13 - 10:46 AM Huge thanks to Herga FC for having asked me back and giving me such a lovely evening of singing amongst friends! I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience despite driving home hoarse from singing 21 songs. Actually I think I started one of them a bit too low, but thankfully it was near the end of the evening. Thanks also to Kitty & Breezy (and others too) for all your kind words and support. Sorry you couldn't join us Terry, but you've gotta do what you've gotta do! A wonderful sight met us when we parked up outside Herga, a beautiful double rainbow! I think Richard managed to get a video shot of it, but it gave me even more of a smiling start to the evening! And here you are Breezy, 'what I'll give you since you've asked' - the list of songs I sang: Old Jacky Frost - Barrie Temple Regret - Lynne Heraud When Fishes Fly - collected by Cecil Sharpe 1904 (final verse co-written with MudCatter Mysha) * Searching for Lambs - Trad The Higgler - Tony Franklin Battlefield Tree - Lucy Burrow * Shores of Old Blighty - Graeme Miles Where Ravens Feed - Graeme Miles * & after the break: The Dead Knight Behind the Hedge - Jon Heslop Down Boys Down - Barrie Temple Gordon's Song - Bryony McGinty Beachcomber - Simon Cowe * Hunting Witches - Maureen McGuinness * Mary Mack - composite from verses found on Mudcat You are There - Brian Bedford The Court of King Caractacus - Rolf Harris Wayfaring Stranger - Trad Go with a Smile - Brian Bedford After the Goldrush - Neil Young Those were the Days - Gene Raskin This Time Again - Anne Gregson * and just in case you wondered, these were the 5 songs that I sang at Herga in 2010, my apologies but these songs are definitely worth repeating! Thanks again Herga!!! |

At one point I thought it was a steal at 4/5 quid. support acts rose to the occasion , apart from those who cocked up , while the spontaneous harmonies of the audience were magical, must say how much i do enjoy listening to Kitty sing about 'Willie' I look forward to hearing more of Hilary Ward who is a great advert for Port. maybe she will post her song list here the Luton nightingale always sings and pleases the ear x |

Subject: RE: MGAS gotta gig at Herga UK 13th May 2013 From: My guru always said Date: 08 May 13 - 03:29 PM Many thanks for your kind wishes & looking forward to see/hearing you again Kitty & perhaps Terry too? The song-dusting is going pretty well and I'm hoping to only repeat 4 songs from my last gig at Herga in 2010. Am also trying to learn a new song to sing as a 'First Time Out', which may be a little ambitious, but I know that everyone at Herga will be sympathetic and will help me out if I go wrong *grin* |
