Here's a bizzare tech question...I have folders of MP3 files and would like to make a printed listing (probably in microsoft word, but that doesn't matter). What I would like it to do is: when I select a group of mp3's it will allow me to copy the file names to the memory and let me paste them into MS. I'm thinking that some of the Mp3 converters might be able to do that....Or I could just spend the next five years typing the titles....Anybody have a suggestion?

What operating system do you have on your computer? What software do you have that will play MP3 files?
Can't say I have a solution. It's a problem I've wanted to solve for a long time, too. There is a tag on the ancient DOS "dir" (directory) command that will output a list of filenames to a text file or a printer:

Open up your command prompt by typing cmd in the run dialog box and hitting Enter.
Navigate to the directory which has the files and type the following command - DIR /B /O:N > filename.txt
This will save all the filenames in the current directory to a text file. The text file will be saved in the same directory.
To save file names from any sub-directories in the current folder, just add /S like - DIR /B /O:N /S > filename.txt

Note the spaces - they have to be there, too. You can post the bold-type stuff above into a "CMD" box and hit "enter," and it will work. It'a kinda nice to know that the DOS I learned in 1988 still works. Gee, I used to write batch files to entertain myself, back when I had no money to spend....

There are several other options and what is best would be determined by how much information you wanted in the printout and how you might want to use it. Print Folders is freeware that will allow a printout of data in a selection of folders.

Another option would involve downloading Media Monkey which is MP3 managing freeware. Media Monkey allows the creation of reports in Excel and several other formats.

There is a plug-in for Windows Media Player which will create a directory of any album that you create in the player. Not only titles, it will include all the other tag info which can then be edited with excel etc. The plug-in can be found on the MS site.
