"Cool water " a 1940s country & western Sons of the pioneers was a big favorite with my WW1 dad, really useful words ,nice follow on , fits well in any setting, resigned yet uplifting . my Dad served Egypt, Gallipoli. Desert. Passendale, Guarded red Barons plane, WATER was sure important to him.

Hmmm, two songs? That's tough.

Memorial Day is traditionally the first day of the summer season. Nothing says summer morning better than "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay." Mungo Jeri's "In the Summertime." the Loving Spoonful's "Summer in the City," or Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues" might work as well.

I am slated to sing two songs for a Memorial Day Commemoration at the prison where I work. I'd prefer songs without a strong antiwar opinion. The men are prisoners, but also Veterans. There will be some non-vets present as well. Folk music preferable, but other genre's are acceptable (particularly Country and Western).
