Thank you Georgiansilver! It would be lovely to see you. I really miss you all from Faldingworth as I rarely see/hear any of you now it is a concert club. Hope you are doing ok. Fingers crossed we get nice weather but we will be ok if not and did I say it would be really lovely to see you?! Ooops, I did! :-)
It is well worth coming along to and please come and say hello if you are there when we are doing our bit on Sunday afternoon! :-)
Please pass on the info to anyone you think may be interested, too :-)

Any tune/mixed sessions NOT singarounds during the weekend? It would be fun to have a plink and twang during that weekend.
Lawrie

Some further info. Apart from the music, don't forget the Morris Sides, who will be performing all over the resort. They are an integral part of the festival, and certainly a lovely spectacle, adding colour and atmosphere to the whole event.

There will be a craft fair on the piazza near to the Light Railway Station, on the Sunday (26th May) and there will also be 2 performances that day (one on the piazza and one at the sandpit by the boating lake) from Birdhouse Theatre, a children's theatre company.

There is camping available for anyone wishing to stay over the weekend. Please email merlinskeep@ntlworld.com for info about this.

One other thing. We already have the budget set for 2014, which will be the 6th festival, so if anyone is interested, or knows anyone who is interested in being booked, please email at the above address. Particularly looking for new acts to mix in with the returners.

And don't forget it's a FREE event.

What an excellent weekend. Well done to all who helped put it together. Good farewell singaround on Monday night too. Would have liked a musicians session (or two) as well, perhaps another time.

An original way of doing this might be to pick a few of the tune sets off the BBC Radio 2, "Virtual Session" as "Festival Tunes" for the year (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/r2music/folk/sessions/). That way people who are new to session playing or are perhaps a bit nervous at the prospect of a solo at a singaround would have a chance of learning up a few tunes that they know will definitely be played by the session leadership during the session.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for making contact via email, Shoreliner. I don't visit the forum that often, so wouldn't have seen the message. The festival is definitely going ahead next year, so watch this space!
