I'm looking for lyrics that relates to the Irish conflict (history). If possible the backround to it!

Need it for a work for my Certificate....thanx ChrisE

For the early material, I suggest you try to get hold of George-Denis Zimmermann 'Songs of Irish Rebellion: Political Steet Ballads and Rebel Songs 1780-1900' Allen Figgis Dublin 1967. I can't suggest any book references for the later material because I have the songs on albums, and never bothered to buy songbooks. No doubt, others will be able to suggest some for you. If you make a search of the forum here, you will find quite a number. There have been a couple of threads on this in recent weeks. You will also find the more common ones like 'Sean South', 'James Connolly', 'Avondale' etc by searching the Digital Tradition.

You will find many songs if you enter @rebel in the searchbox for the Digital Tradition.
