A great folk band and a great folk club. Overall, a great evening! I'm really glad I came. A curious experience; listening to a folk band to the smell of burnt hair! :-)

Thanks to all.

However Mary is not planning to set fire to her hair at the Bothy.

(You had to be there... no permanent harm done.)

We enjoyed the evening too, including the walk in the park before the gig, and meeting Melodeonboy and Mrs. Melodeonboy.

If you're anywhere near Southport Tone you can see them at the Bothy on the 30th of this month.

Way too far south for me but I will catch them somewhere soon. Been a fan for a long time.

Mary Humphreys & Anahata , The Old Nun's Head,SE15 3QQ, Friday 14 June.

7.45pm, £7 on the door.

Floorspots always welcome.

Mary Humphreys and Anahata are established on the British folk scene as enthusiastic and entertaining performers of traditional material. With extensive research, skilled musicianship and a huge variety of instruments they have unearthed and brought back to vivid life some rare gems of English song and music.

They are continually busy at festivals and folk clubs, with concert performances, workshops and presentations, playing for dancers such as Pig Dyke Molly and collaborating with other artists from time to time.
They have made five albums of their music, the latest, A Baker's Dozen released in June 2012.

They are well loved and highly popular duo and this will be the third time that we have welcomed them to the Goose, and the second time they have headlined.

What they have said about Mary & Anahata:

Another good evenings entertainment, with a tick in the "to be rebooked" box!" Carole Markham, Waveney Folk Club

"What can I say about Mary Humphreys and Anahata? Stunning musicianship, great songs very well sung and an infectious stage presence".Paul Arrowsmith, Kirkby Fleetham Folk CLub
