If you're one of the many folks who have enjoyed searching through CAMSCO Music's collection at the Old Songs Festival, this year will be your last chance. An upcoming move to more confined quarters, as well as the limitations of an increased (shall I say) maturity, has made the logistics of festival sales impracticable. Storing and jackassing around a few thousand CDs, a bunch of books, as well as the requisite tents, tables, lights, etc. has begun to get old (like me).
    So, if you have holes to fill in your CD collection, prepare lists of what you already have, and I wish you happy browsing.
Oh yes, bring money.

My first response was "Oh, no they can't!" but I understand. Still, no more CAMSCO is a little traumatic.

CAMSCO will continue and expand its book publishing program; WE'll continue handling mail order for CDs, but we'll be cutting back a bit on what we inventory. For the immediate future, we'll be playing it by ear.

Just hearing about Old Songs makes me sad. Went to about 28 of 'em, but moved to North Georgia. There's a fair amount of folk music here, but nothing like Old Songs.

We are moving to a retirement community in Lansdale PA. If you are among the 350 folkies I have in my address book, you will get details later, or PM one of us.

The CAMSCO 800 number and email should remain the same. Mine and the numbers behind the CAMSCO numbers will be changed. We cannot get our new phone and email until after Old Songs - I had hoped to have new cards printed, but we won't have the info.

Guest - If you are WYSIWYG, we will be about an hour closer to you, which will make visits easier.

I'm sitting here in Cleveland wishing I were at Old Songs counting out my savings into Dick & Susan's hands for music. Empty piggy bank kept me at home again this year.

Of the people/things/events with long and glorious traditions, I think most traditional music enthusiasts are well aware of what an incredible job CAMSCO has done in giving us access to wonderful songs and singers, and are thoroughly greatful.

I can still remember several decades back, my first experience of CAMSCO at a folk festival. I was overwhelmed by the choices and asked Dick Swain to pick me out something he thought I'd like. I've still got those cassettes, and gingerly put them through my aging sound system now and then - first sound of David Weber and Anni Fentiman (hope I spelled them right) among them.

Sorry to miss the last "stand" but ever greatful for your work,

We no longer have our "camper" van, and are past the age for sleeping on the ground, wondering if a puddle will choose to form where we put our tent. And motels plus the associated driving back and forth aren't worth it.

So we had figured on coming down early Saturday and driving home late. A long day, but we could do it with two drivers.

Then we looked at the weather forecast, as well as the immediate past weather, and the prospects for Mud and Mosquitoes. And decided to stay dry at home.

Maybe next year...?

and I know exactly where Midchuck is coming from... the joints have been groaning since last night... the jam session at the spaghetti supper was fun, but I could hardly hear myself or the pickers thanks to clogged ears. Ibuprophen... don't leave home without it... LOL
