Bill Sables took me to the National Railway Museum in York. I've been to many railroad museums, but this one is special. Don't let them close it.
-Joe-

Rally planned against possible closure of National Railway Museum

Thatcher museum is little more than white washing rightwing political propaganda as culture. Disgusting waste of public money when legitimate museums are losing funding, reducing staff, hours, acquisitions some even closing.

Petition against Thatcher museum.

We visit various small museums: The Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron, Nebraska; the Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale, Wyoming; the museum at the International Quilt Study Center at the U. of Nebraska; the Jerome County Historical Society museum in Jerome, Idaho (a wonderful, possibly definitive, collection of the Minidoka Internment Camp); the Pony Express Museum in St. Joe, Missouri, and others.

Big museums have endowments. Small museums have supporters.

The thatcher museum should be in a sewage farm and only available to visiting tories, then all the shite will be together in one place. However, to consider closing the National Railway Museum and other science museum outposts is disgraceful I think that possibly two factors to consider are the huge cost of restoration of Flying Scotsman and secondly that an accountant, who was drafted in to replace Steve Davies (NRM Director) is in the running for the top job at NRM. Those tory bastards tried this before under Maggie when they imposed admission charges to National Museums. Anything to put the ordinary person "in their place". Rubbing our noses in it with a museum to that bitch, Cameron and Co want beating with a huge stick !!

Apparently this wonderful memorial to Lady Thatcher is to be in Central London. Really it ought to be in Alderman Roberts' shop in Grantham, complete with an animatronic miner being truncheoned and a white coated fibreglass Roberts with his thumb on the scales. Plus songs from the Methodist Hymnal wafting through the ether. And a repeating recording of "No, No, No, No, No".

There could be a £20 charge for admission, concessions £30 (benefit scroungers, disabled etc.) The souvenir shop could feature handbags from Mrs Cameron and copies of "Self Help" by Samuel Smiles (printed in China). One armed bandits would be sited at strategic points.

But Of Course It's Easy To Mock Isn't It.

I think the point of this thread is the assinine conservative support for Thatcher musuem when real museums are facing cuts and closures. To which I reiterate, SHIT!
