Date: 14 Jun 13 - 10:32 AM

Emily Portman and her new Trio are performing their first London concert this Sunday at Camden's Green Note with support from London based Long Lankin

"Emily Portman is a singer, writer and concertina player originating from Glastonbury and hailed 'one of the new British folk scene's most beguiling presences' (Uncut).
Her BBC Folk award-winning album 'Hatchling' is described as "Marvelous" (The Observer) 'Eerily magnificent' (fROOTS) and "One of the year's most distinctive folk releases" (Songlines).

With her debut album 'The Glamoury' also gaining her two BBC Folk Award nominations, Emily is fast gaining a reputation for her 'remarkable and original' songwriting (The Observer). Not only has her music propelled Emily onto the front cover of FRoots, she has received widespread international radio-play and tours the UK extensively, recently supporting The Be Good Tanyas in a sell-out tour culminating at London's Barbican. Inspired by the darker underbelly of folklore and balladry, Emily weaves harmony-rich narratives alongside Lucy Farrell (viola) and Rachel Newton (harp).

"Fieldfare is a new venture, exploring the riches that are traditional English songs, from the great magical and murderous ballads to poetic fragments and floating verses, with fine accompaniment from two highly respected musicians.

Robert Harbron is one of the finest musicians on the UK folk scene, unsurpassed as a concertina player and in demand as both session player and composer. You may know Rob from his work with Jon Boden and the Remnant Kings, Fay Hield or the Royal Shakespeare Company. Lucy Deakin is a fine cellist in folk string quartet Methera and a already favourite with The Emily Portman Trio, appearing with us at our bigger shows. You may have seen Lucy bewitching the sell out audience at our last show at the Barbican, supporting the Be Good Tanyas.

Fieldfare are appearing at the celebrated Camden venue THE GREEN NOTE for an intimate gig on 16th JUNE. Come and acquaint yourself with us and some of the lesser known corners of English Folk!""

If you can make it to this show, please do. I have become quite a fan of Emily's work and I am singing her songs. She is amazing.
