I could, John. Next tour is late March- early April 2014 and I still have a few dates to fill :-) I may have to work out exchanges with some of my British friends as well. I'll bring strings if they can cart a few CDs over. I'll do it in many batches of twos and threes.:-)

If the supply is coming from the States, the reason could be that International shipping charges from the US have almost doubled since January 2013. Where it used to be about $4 US to send one CD to the UK, it's now over $7 and that's even without the plastic case. I would suggest that you have folks who are touring or visiting here buy the strings here in the US (if you love 'em) and cart 'em over in the luggage.

I service a lot of radio stations internationally and I have begun to offer broadcast quality digital downloads of full albums with PDF copies of the booklets to DJs outside the US.

Unfortunately, I have had to put up my CD prices especially for International sales. That said, folks can still purchase a digital download for a lesser price.

Nanoweb strings have just one coating on the outside of the wound string. Polyweb have internal coating on each strand. I believe Polyweb were the original, but I always use Nanoweb - they're slightly brighter to my ears.

And, if Chris Newman can use 'em, an even better recommendation - your set at the Hawth in Crawley last year was superb, Chris. Get down here again as soon as you can!

Can someone enlighten me on the differrence between Nano and polyweb and no parrot jokes

Them newtone strings dont last long do they, 2 weeks !! Elixir 2 years and being played over 30 hours aweek, mainly outdoors.

Newtones are excellent strings. So are those made by Daddario & John Pearse. They all work well, but the Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze from Elixir beat them all. The set currently on my Collings has been on since December 1, 2012 and have played loads of gigs, made at least two CDs and they still sound good.

I hate changing strings so these work for me in a big way - I simply can't say enough good things about them. They might be more expensive (I recently bought 10 sets at £11 inc vat - not bad) but in the long run they're way cheaper than anything else.

I'm with McGrath of Harlow. Newtone from Strings Direct. Buy 20 sets at a time and you get a good price. They last 2 weeks for me; less if I change turnings.   In my experience 1 in 10 sets contains a dodgy bottom E, but the sound compensates.

Anyone want some 5 string sets?

I ignored the advertising saying that my day to day guitar's manufacturer had designed the guitar with Elixir as back hander advertising. (Rainsong.) After all, my pride and joy Gibson doesn't get on with either type and cheap & cheerful Martin 011 seem the best all round.

However, my Rainsong seems flat and fret squeaky with any other type, even coated other types. The nanoweb make a difference to the sound and (I may be dreaming here) playability.

I need to have Elixir. I suppose the long lasting quality still makes them cost effective even at a new price. I loaded up on Amazon the other month and should have enough to last till Xmas.

I had an email from Strings Direct, warning me about price hike on Elixir strings. I shall shop around as usual but - if the price does rise - I shall still use them as no others last as long.

Just been told by a supplier that guitar strings are going up 19% and bass strings are going up by over 40%!!! Is it true? Why?

Maybe time for a change....
