We spent a delightful two and one half hours listening to this two CD compilation of Pete Seeger relating two dozen of his personal tales.

The album was produced by Jeff Haynes, a world-renowned percussionist, composer and producer, who had worked with Pete on an earlier recording project - the 2009 Grammy award-winning CD, "Tomorrow's Children". During this effort Pete, as he is likely to do at the drop of a pick, told Jeff a number of stories and Jeff found them interesting enough to record. He spent the next three and one half years turning these narratives into a two CD compilation.

Each of the stories is backed up by very tasteful music played by a passel of musicians on a wide variety of instruments from cello to obsidian chimes and from mbira to saxophone. The music is kept to a very low level so that it enhances the spoken word but never distracts from it. The overall effect is simply amazing.

Pete Seeger - The Storm King project Pete Seeger, Jeff Haynes, and Hachette Audio are proud to present Pete Seeger: The Storm King. A beautiful collection of stories, narratives, and poems spoken by Pete Seeger set to multi-genre music from around the world.

"People are combining traditions like never before and finding somehow a fundamental unity for this human race of ours. I think working with each other as Jeff Haynes has done here we may be surprised to find what deeper unity all human beings have." Pete Seeger

"Growing up in Africa, I learned that some of the most important treasures in life are the friends one keeps. This project, so lovingly and thoughtfully produced by Jeff Haynes, is a testament to the legend of Pete Seeger. I think that his loyal and future fans alike will be richer for the memories recorded here." Samite Mulondo

"Pete's still finding the hope and planting the seeds . . . and seeing new children, and creating new inspirations, and keeping us invigorated in our own best intentions." Dar Williams
