Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: jacqui.c Date: 10 Jul 13 - 07:41 PM Great news Charlie. Take care of yourself too, won't you. |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: GUEST,maeve Date: 10 Jul 13 - 07:36 PM Charlie, that is lovely news. Welcome home to Ann. |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: fat B****rd Date: 10 Jul 13 - 01:18 PM Hello, Mudfriends. Ann may be home at the weekend!. She has walked slowly - stick assisted - a fair distance today and apart from what the doctors call "what we can expect" she is doing pretty well. Now it's time for me to spend tomorrow (Thursday) cleaning the house, which isn't too bad, and taking care of business etc. Thanks again and I'll keep you posted. Charlie. |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 09 Jul 13 - 01:01 AM charlie, its good to know Ann has healed well enough to get the clips removed, which sounds more painful than getting stitches removed. love & hugs to you both - very gentle hugs to Ann. sandra |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: GUEST,Guest from Sanity Date: 08 Jul 13 - 10:47 PM Hey Charlie, removing the clips, as Chantey Lass said, is a GOOD thing, and an answer to prayer...that she recover and heal, right?? Don't forget, to seriously THANK God, as much as you BEGGED him to help, and Have that Happy Birthday!!! Warmest Regards!! GfS |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: ChanteyLass Date: 08 Jul 13 - 08:58 PM Although the removal of the clips sound like no fun, it is really a good thing, isn't it, as long as it is not done too soon? I hope it goes well and is easier than Ann expects it will be. |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: fat B****rd Date: 08 Jul 13 - 12:11 PM Sorry to take a while to get back, but Ann told me to have a day off so that I could 'do the garden' etc. Good news , she's been for a Zimmer/Charlie assisted stroll up the ward and back and is starting to eat real food!. Bad news - the clips holding the wound together may be removed to-day. She's a brave lady but not looking forward to that. On the whole, and I realize that this is easy for me to say, she's doing as well as the Doctors expect. There is a slight possibility that she'll be home within a week! So, even though I'm not especially untidy there's still always the chores and necessary arrangements to make. My heartfelt thanks to you all. I'm sure it has helped tremendously. Charlie. X |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: catspaw49 Date: 06 Jul 13 - 08:33 AM Sorry I'm late here but this birthday seems to me to be a lot happier than the other possible outcomes so Happy Birthday to YOU and a Happy New Life together for both of you! Best thoughts always! Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: ChanteyLass Date: 05 Jul 13 - 09:56 PM Sounds like she is getting better! Keep us posted. |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: GUEST,Guest from Sanity Date: 05 Jul 13 - 04:12 PM You're MORE than welcome!!!!! Prayer works! Miraculously!!!... if you will. I'll be calling my friend, to check on them....thanks to you! GfS |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: fat B****rd Date: 05 Jul 13 - 03:36 PM Thank you for your good wishes GtS. Believe me yours and all here are most appreciated and a great help. I'm saddened to hear about your friend's wife and, yes, I do count my blessings. Maybe a look round the average Intensive Care Unit should be compulsory for anybody whinging about their lot. Anyway, Ann is being moved from HDU to the transplant recovery ward, so...maybe in a few days I shall be trusted to wheel her round the hospital and maybe...just maybe take her for a coffee or something in the downstairs cafe!. Once again, and I shall never stop saying this, thank you all for everything. Charlie. X |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: GUEST,Guest from Sanity Date: 05 Jul 13 - 12:02 AM Well, this might brighten your day...A dear friend of mine's wife, can't seem to get her liver for a transplant, and slipping fast!....count your blessings, and my wishes for a complete and speedy recovery...maybe enough of one to pop a bottle of the 'bubbly' to celebrate!...But not to quick one that part! Sending positive energy through the Intergalactic Space Telephone!!! BTW....Happy Birthday! GfS |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 04 Jul 13 - 04:46 PM She's getting better. Give yourself a birthday present of a good night's sleep and a few good meals. Cause I bet you haven't had either one for a while, have you? |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: Megan L Date: 04 Jul 13 - 03:17 PM good to hear lad it is always a good sign when they start giving orders :) |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: fat B****rd Date: 04 Jul 13 - 02:24 PM Thank you once more. She's sitting up in the HDU (High Dependence Unit) and has asked me to take in yet another pair of slippers and her I-pad games thingy. So although it's a long job things are looking up. Your good wishes are a great help. Charlie. |

Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: fat B****rd Date: 04 Jul 13 - 05:57 AM Absolutely !! Those dance classes have paid dividends. It's chucking down here in Dunfermline and apparently the same in Singapore! No change of environment there, then (Joke). Ann was on her mobile to me this morning and she's telling me off about stuff, which is fine by me. ATB from a grateful, Charlie x |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 04 Jul 13 - 04:36 AM yesterday sounds like a great day full of memories for Nanna & her talented little girls. sandra |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: fat B****rd Date: 04 Jul 13 - 04:00 AM Thank you all so much for your supportive, positive and greatly appreciated posts. There's a long way to go yet but the care and attention she is receiving at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh is exemplary. So good,in fact, that Ann is sending sweets and a card to the ICU Unit!. My younger step-daughter is emigrating to Singapore today so things have been a bit more complicated than they might have been. Our grand-daughters were allowed in to see their Nanna yesterday and performed one of their song and dance routines for her. Anyway, my thanks again and I'll keep you posted from time to time. Love and best to you all Charlie. |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: Stilly River Sage Date: 04 Jul 13 - 01:10 AM I'm with the cup-half-full group - sounds like a great birthday, all things considered. She got the transplant because there was a suitable donor. Next year you both can go out and party. :) SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: Bat Goddess Date: 03 Jul 13 - 09:04 AM I'm with Charmion and Rapparee. I'm really happy that your wife is recovering and may soon be in better health than before. Hang in there and enjoy the day -- and the company of your wife -- with as much joy as you can muster. Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: Phil Cooper Date: 03 Jul 13 - 08:57 AM I can relate. On my father's 66th birthday the house was struck by lightning and the roof caught on fire. We wound up living in a trailer in the driveway for the next four months, while the house was remodeled. I'm wishing your wife a speedy recovery. |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: Rapparee Date: 03 Jul 13 - 08:40 AM It's not fun and cake, but you've got a great present and a very Happy Birthday indeed. |
Subject: RE: BS: Not such a happy birthday to me From: Charmion Date: 03 Jul 13 - 08:32 AM This birthday may not be a happy one, FB, but it's a good one. A suitable donor liver became available when your wife was still strong enough to survive the operation, the surgical team did their thing according to plan, and your good lady is now in recovery. That's a medical miracle by anyone's standard. But it's sure no fun to stand by and wait for the seconds and minutes and hours to tick by while other people do dangerous things to the most important person in your life. Here's hoping you'll celebrate your next birthday with both of you in fine fettle. |
