I was, for a short time in the early days, Paul. Before your time 1969/70. Went on their first Belgium tour with Hammersmith.

My brother Gerry an ex Hammersmith man saw some footage a few years back of myself dancing rapper (pre East Saxon Sword) with them on that trip when at the Hammersmith 50th a while back. Would love to know who has that footage to see it myself. I believe it was silen B&W film.

Cheers

Thanks Chris. I had seen some of the footage taken at the latest reunion and was at the 2007 reunion.

GSS, Dave Lobb was indeed an Earl. I think he came along from Wood Green Morris (or were they called Greenwood?). There were a couple of Earls with that connection, Mo Pearson and Ray Hemmings?

Great, that's at least two then, haha!

Seriously, though, having broken up at some time in the eighties there was a brief reunion in 2007 in a field in Essex, and an invite to dance at Bampton this year, to which an astonishing 13 dancers turned up, and danced very well, I might add.

In order to maintain some contact and spread the net I have set up a Facebook group for past members, where they can hopefully post photos etc. After a great deal of thought and after consulting various focus groups I have called it 'Earls of Essex Morris'. Snappy, I think you'll agree. So if you are a past member, please hie thee along there and 'add' yourself.

Me. Real name Paul Draper and still living in Plaistow not far from Manor Park. I dance with Hawksword who are the successor to East Saxon Sword.
