we are staying on for a further week after the festival this year. What sessions / singaround / dances are there in the area after the festival any catters know of any?

In Whitby there are apparently music sessions every night, I am informed.

Sunday and Monday, the Station, singing / acoustic guitars, not particularly folk based.
Tuesday, Elsinore, singing / tunes session, more folk based.
Wednesday, Friday, the Dolphin.
Thursday, folk club, I think at the Friendship Rowing Club
Saturday, First In , Last Out.

No doubt you'll find much more accurate information during Folk Week!

Hope you find what you want,

Joy

On Saturday 24th the White Hart at Mickleby has Jeff Warner as guest. On tour over from his native America the bio notes on his website state

"Jeff Warner is among the nation foremost performer/interpreters of traditional music. His songs from the lumber camps, fishing villages and mountain tops of America connect 21st century audiences with the everyday lives, and artistry of 19th century Americans...... His songs, rich in local history and sense of place, bring us the latest news from the distant past."

Sounds good to me.
