One can hear 30 seconds of this piece at this site:

http://www.last.fm/music/Peter+Bellamy/_/Blue+Roses

I don't know if Bellamy wrote the tune or borrowed it, but the guitar is playing the same tune, except that it is embellished with bass runs.

Jim, you say you'd love to learn it. What do you want to play it on?

Lyr. Add: BLUE ROSES
Rudyard Kipling

Roses red and roses white
Plucked I for my love's delight.
She would none of all my posies-
Bade me gather her blue roses.

Half the world I wandered through,
Seeking where such flowers grew.
Half the world unto my quest
Answered me with laugh and jest.

Home I came at wintertide,
Bur my silly love had died
Seeking with her latest breath
Roses from the arms of Death.

It may be beyond the grave
She shall find what she would have.
Mine was but an idle quest-

Roses white and red are best !

Sorry I can't help with the tune. It does have an old flavor, in keeping with the poem content, but seems to be original.

Chris Birch's guitar part on Peter Bellamy's Kipling song Blue Roses sounds like it might be a Renaissance lute song. Is it an original arrangement in the style to a Bellamy tune, or is it a borrowing from an earlier source? I'd love to learn it.
