I have listened again to probably the same sample I listened to before (at Allmusic.com), and I now hear that line as:

"Move a little faster to your ol' master, y'ol' coyoodle, you."

I have never run across the word coyoodle before. Thanks for the explanation.

I don't know why I missed "master"; maybe it's my unfamiliarity with his accent.

Oh ~ one more observation/correction to the transcription of Dr. John's version:

I hear "Move a little faster to your old man" as "Move a little faster to your master (you old coyoodle)"

The internal rhyme is hard to miss; I have to assume that Jim was listening to a different recording than the one I know...

"I said, "Get up off your ol' rusty duster. Move a little faster to your old man, y'old cayune (?), you." (From Jim Dixon's transcription, above, of the Dr. John version of this song.)

The mysterious word in question is "coyoodle" (or, phonetically, ki-oodle), an old New Orleans expression meaning mongrel dog ~ part coyote, part poodle.

HOW COME MY BULLDOG DON'T BARK
(Sam Bell, Lorraine Ellison)
As sung by Howard Tate on "Get It While You Can: The Complete Legendary Verve Sessions", 2004:

Well, I can't put my finger on it, but I believe something's changed.
I believe, I believe, pretty baby, I do believe something's changed.
But if I catch you cheatin' on me, I'm gonna send you back to Macon.

Lately I been dreamin' strange dreams about you.
The way you been actin', pretty baby, you make it all seem so true.
I been slavin' for you....

How come my bulldog don't bark, baby, when Big Jim comes around, (2x)
When everybody knows I got the meanest bulldog in town?

[Also recorded by:
Blue Diamonds, "Hit the Big Time", 1999.
The Dynatones, "Shake That Mess", 1999.
Jimmy Vivino, "Do What, Now?", 1997.
Sven Zetterberg, "Let Me Get Over It", 2001.]

I've been listening to sound samples...

HOW COME MY DOG DON'T BARK (WHEN YOU COME AROUND)
As recorded by Dr. John on "Goin' Back to New Orleans" 1992:

...I still don't like it. I don't dig it one damn bit.
The way you an' my dog's so tight, somethin' don't fit.
I slipped through the alley. I called my dog.
I said, "Get up off your ol' rusty duster. Move a little faster to your old man, y'old cayune (?), you."
He took one look at me, he growled, an' he ran straight to you....

HOW COME MY DOG DON'T BARK (WHEN YOU COME AROUND)
As recorded by Guitar Shorty on "Blues Is All Right," 1996:

...but I know my dog don't bark when you come around.
Now ordinarily he ain't no friendly dog. He don't make friends too fast.
I've never known him to make a friendship in his life that would last.
But when you came by the house last night, he rolled all over the floor.
He was waggin' his tail an' blinkin' his eyes like he'd seen you there before.
Now, somebody's been gettin' familiar, so I've found.
How come my dog don't bark when you come round?...

HOW COME MY DOG DON'T BARK
As recorded by McHouston "Mickey" Baker on "Take a Look Inside", 2006:

...How come my dog don't bark whenever you are on the scene? (2x)
You know I just can't understand it, 'cause I know that hound is mean....

HOW COME MY DOG DON'T BARK
As recorded by The Morells on "Think About It", 2005:

...You say you never met my wife, you never saw her before,
And you don't come around when I ain't home. Well, here's what I want to know:
How come my dog don't bark when you come around?

Yeah, he's about the meanest dog there is in town.
He'd bite anybody, my sister or my brother,
Why, he'd even take a plug out o' my old feeble mother.
Yeah, he even bit the mailman, and he sees him every day.
You say he's never seen you before, but he wants to jump up and play.
Now I ain't got a clue as to what you puttin' down
But how come my dog don't bark when you come around?

My dog is dangerous. I'm tryin' to set people straight.
Even bought a "Bad Dog" sign and hung it on the gate....

HOW COME MY DOG DON'T BARK
As recorded by Roscoe Sculley on "Talk About a Party: The Crest Records Story", 2003:

...How come my dog don't bark when you come round?
(Well, I'm tryin' to explain, man.)
Now, he barks at the milkman and the mailman every day—
(Oh, yeah, but remember, I'm your friend, you my friend, an' our friendship is here to stay.)
But then when you come around, he just rolled all over the flo',
Waggin' his tail, an' blinkin' his eyes, an' furthermo',
There's somethin' real....

HOW COME MY DOG DON'T BARK
Also recorded by Big Joe Turner on "Have No Fear, Joe Turner Is Here", 1996.

Apparently, Roscoe Scully recorded a version of How come my dog don't bark when you come round for Crest records in the 50s or early 60s, Lewie Wickham recorded it in about 1970, and Buck Owens recorded it in 1977. I checked the Library of Congress SONIC catalog, among other things...

There's also How Come My Dog Don't Growl at You?, copyrighted by Charlie Williams in 1960 and recorded by Sweetpea Johnson in 1961. I don't have lyrics for that one, but we're obviously dealing with a recurring theme in blues, country and rock...

Dr. John did one called "How come my dog don't bark when you come round"

I've seen this one attributed to Buck Owens. I'll see what I can find out.

Lyrics:

I got the baddest dog.
He'll bite anybody.
He bit my little brother,
Took a chunk out of my old sweet little mother
He bit the mailman
he sees him EVERY day.
He takes one look at you
he wanna jump up and play.

Now I ain't got a clue as to what you puttin' down,
but How come my dog don't bark when YOU come round?

My dog is dangerous.
To try to set people straight
I even bought a "bad dog" sign
and hung it on the gate.
Now here you come trippin'
about a quarter to nine,
Full of that Night Train wine,
Trying to slide past the sign.
My dog's layin', noddin' off,
ain't payin' you NO mind.

That's MY DOG & when I come home he don't sleep that sound.
How come my dog don't bark when YOU come round?

My Dog
(M. Baker - P. Chatman). Recorded in Paris, 14 Dec. 1973 with Mickey Baker, Louis Myers, Jimmy Rogers, Dave Myers, and Fred Below. From the CD "The Blues And Me" (Black & Blue, 1993).

How come my dog don't bark whenever you are on the scene?
You know I just can't understand it, 'cause I know that hound is mean

Now you been comin' around to my house
When my wife was all alone
Talkin' all kinds of trash
Throwin' my dog a bone

How come my dog don't bark whenever you are on the scene?
You know I just can't understand it, 'cause I know that hound is mean

He bit my next door neighbor
He bit my father too
Growled at my dear mother
Ate up my old shoe

Now how come that dog ain't barkin' whenever you are on the scene?
You know I just can't understand it, 'cause I know that hound is mean

Now he can see like an owl
He can hear you drop a pin
But what I'd like to know
Is how the hell did you get in?

Now how come that dog don't bark whenever you are on the scene?
You know I just can't understand it, 'cause I know that hound is mean

Now you been comin' around to my house
My wife was all alone
Talkin' all kinds of trash
And throwin' my dog a bone

Now how come my dog ain't barkin' whenever you are on the scene?
You know I just can't understand it, 'cause I know that hound is mean

Looks like the song you are looking for is: How Come My Dog Don't Bark credited to W Partridge. The version I have is by New Orleans piano player the late Cousin Joe (Pleasant)recorded in the UK n the seventies issued on Big Bear Records but he probably recorded it elsewhere also.
