Subject: RE: BS: The new Who From: GUEST,Musket curious Date: 04 Aug 13 - 02:52 PM Yeah but surely instead of some stunt or other, we should get to know who it is when he regenerates on screen? You see, marketing executives. Know how to market but have no concept of what they are marketing. You watch Dr Who in order to watch Dr Who so a publicity stunt over it takes away what the object is in the first place. A colleague went to the Dr Who proms night the other week. Being young, she assured me it was awesome. ... |
Subject: RE: BS: The new Who From: Nigel Parsons Date: 04 Aug 13 - 03:04 PM Musket. Presumably they decided that it would be impossible to keep the secret until the Christmas episode. So decided to make a production of announcing it now. As this is the 50th anniversary year it's good to have an extra programme (and extra topic of conversation) to keep us going until the anniversary episode in November. Peter Capaldi previously appeared in the Dr Who episode "The Fires of Pompeii" as Caecilius opposite David Tennant. |

Subject: RE: BS: The new Who From: jacqui.c Date: 05 Aug 13 - 12:44 PM Good choice, I think. He's a very good actor, has been around for years. I'm looking forward to seeing what his persona is like. |
Subject: RE: BS: The new Who From: clueless don Date: 06 Aug 13 - 08:56 AM My friend Skivee pointed out that Mr. Capaldi played the role of Danny in one of my favorite movies, Local Hero. This memory, together with seeing pictures of Mr. Capaldi today, has made me feel very old. Don |
Subject: RE: BS: The new Who From: Nigel Parsons Date: 29 Oct 18 - 04:36 PM Gone now, replaced by Jodie Whittaker. But Capaldi definitely had his moments. For a music site, it's worth mentioning his bits with a guitar, possibly not quite up to his earlier musicality in "The Lair of the White Worm" where he could be seen wearing a kilt and playing the bagpipes though. |
Subject: RE: BS: The new Who From: Thompson Date: 31 Oct 18 - 01:27 PM Capaldi was ok, but I hated the writing in the last series, found it really nasty. |
