I always liked The Packers. My bro's fav. I always like the way they played and especially the fact that the teams, for the most part, acted like gentlemen, as much as football players can.

THAT was fun! I owe Welker a thank you note. I'd send him a small token of appreciation from my winnings but I figger he's flush eh?

I have taken the Pats jersey out of the bedchest and hung it in the hallway closet. My huge football slippers are in front of the rocker. The Pats welcome mat is in front of the back door. Got the beer chilled and the mug is in the freezer. Headin out fer snacks in an hour. Made the chili last night and it's in the fridge awaiting the slow cooker which is on the counter. Cold and wet here so I won't feel guilty about neglecting yard work.

I AM ready for some football!

GO PATS!

Are you ready for some FOOOOTT BAAAALL????

What and awesome season we have coming!!

49er fans fans gotta be pumped!!

Ans Seattle, Look at all the great young QBs!! Ryan, Dalton, Stafford, Newton, the half dozen new ones from last year.

I am really pumped about The Panthers front seven. I love the Big men and our seven are among the best!. They are mauling the Seahawk line so far today! Cam seems to be growing up a little but is still a bit of a hot dog. Why doesn't Brady have an off season QB demeanor camp?

Then there are the vets! Brees, the Mannings (how good was Peyton Thursday?) and of course Tom Brady. I'm sure I left someone out. But not Flacco. IMHO overrated and overpaid.

Who are y'all excited about?

I was pissed! I was told by TV Guide I would get to watch SEA and CAR on the little screen whilst watching the Pats game. Not so.

I have one more game to come out for a big payoff... yeah, I bet a tie on the Pats on accounta I had coin ta spare after Welker totally fucked up the Ravens secondary >;-D. Over ten points, 2:1 on one wager. Of course, I made the same bet combination for a Pats win and for a Bill's win at a low amount which covered the crazy tie bet. No matter how it turns out, I will enjoy watching Rodgers and Kaepernick and the rest in the next game with Williams on the small screen at the same time. I absolutely love watching Kaepernick chuck a ball... amazing release!

Q... ? If ya don't like football, why do you watch it or post about it?

Great contest between Pack and SF. Don't bet on a defensive battle. Tho both d's will hit home runs ;-). Who is the most fun QB to watch this year. About half are entertaining as can be.

Most exciting for me is still Brady. Yeah, I am biased and, yeah, its not really true but when he throws laser fast strikes like that first TD in his 14th year!? I am just thrilled. Kaepernick is a joy... the execution of passing motion is poetry. To me, it's like when Elway started to dazzle me with his amazing arm. I could comment on many, I am sure, if I had the money to sign up for the NFL Sunday Ticket cable TV package.

You have a pretty good team to watch there in Atlanta. With excellent divisional rivals.

That is one thing the Pats lack, a strong division.

I am not sure if that matters to a team, JtS. I mean, they gotta be the best to beat the best and they gotta beat the best to be the best they gotta do just that no matter what division they are in. Your logic hasn't stopped the coaching staff of the Pats in past years.

The Falcons have four very close and heated games this year. 2 with the Saints 2 with the Panthers. Maybe 2 with Tampa Bay. They know each other, they hate each other, the games can go either way, like with the Pats and Steelers of the past or the Pats and Ravens. Except if we are lucky we will see the Pats play their big rivals every year or so. in a strong division big rivals, Giants & Cowboys, Cowboys & Redskins Redskins and Giants, This year, maybe Eagles, play 2 times a year.

Tell me you are not looking forward to 49ers v SeaHawks next week. and to the next matchup in Candlestick later in the year.

This does not diminish the Pats in the playoffs, in fact it means that the Pats have a much easier path to the playoffs with less likelihood of injuries. But the regular season is more exciting in a strong division. In my opinion.

All those injuries and the Hernandez fiasco, Ridley did squat and the Pats still had a passing game. That Brady chap must be pretty good :-)

Any NFL QB can pass to players like Gronk, Wes and Danny A. But he had to pass 4 to Dobson for every catch. :-)

Yes to all. I have been watching Brady play for 13 years and, tho I have see him become annoyed and even appear to talk sternly at times, I have never seen him become emotional... strike that... pissed off! When Dobson cut into coverage rather than exploiting a wide open end zone I was shocked but not as shocked as I was at Brady's reaction. The only good thing that can come from that move is learning (really quick like if he wants to get back off the bench) from his mistakes. The kid is good but he appears to lack field vision... nerves? Of course, flat out dropping three in a row after being hit in the hands each time is unaccepatable.

The Jets Dline was was as you say but I also was surprised at the Oline taking the press from the Pats. Just what they did with Wilfork alone took me aback. That lad can stuff plays just by falling forward. Add his surprising quickness off the ball and his agility and they stood him up as often as they did? The Jets are a team to watch.

The Jets are a team to watch.

Yeah So far the AFC east is one of if not the strongest divisions. If this keeps up, you will have some great rivalry games to watch.

Panthers first win.   rather decisive. Felt bad about losing to the Bills even with 4 starting secondary hurt last week. But the Bills are good!

Went to Wembley twice. Steelers Vikes was up to expectation, but Niners Jags was, dare I say it, down to expectations. I think I agree with the Channel 4 pundits that Jags are puting themselves in a great position for the next few years, though I won't be joining any supporters' group that calls itself the "Union Jax". I get the impression that the NFL just doesn't understand British politics. Why do you think I stopped supporting the Monarchs when they ceased being the London Monarchs, though by then I had the Claymores to support.

Great win for the Pack tonight. I went into JJ Moon's on Wembley High Street this year and there was a man in front of one of the many TVs muttering "I hate Tony Romo". As I explained to him, i don't, because Romo always plays just well enough to convince Jerry Jones That he is the quarterback to take the Cowboys to the Superbowl, while the rest of us, including all us Redskins fans, know better. Seattle looks good. If I HAD to pick one team it would be them. But there are a few teams (SF, NO, Carolina) that could beat them if they get a couple of lucky bounces. I'd give Seattle about a 1 in 4 chanceof making the NFC championship game, with the winner of the East 1 in 30, The winner of the North 1 20, The Saints 1 in 10, the Panthers 3 in 20, the 49er 1 in 8.

Vegas odds of winning it all.

Seattle Seahawks         9/5
Denver Broncos         13/5
San Francisco 49ers         15/2
New England Patriots         14/1
Cincinnati Bengals         15/1
Carolina Panthers         16/1
New Orleans Saints         18/1
Kansas City Chiefs         20/1
Green Bay Packers         35/1
Indianapolis Colts         40/1
Philadelphia Eagles         40/1
Detroit Lions         45/1
Baltimore Ravens         50/1
Chicago Bears         60/1
Miami Dolphins         75/1
Dallas Cowboys         85/1
San Diego Chargers         85/1
Arizona Cardinals

Not a word of lie. I am watching two football games and surfing. I noted someone leaving the old guy's driveaway across the street and they left big slushball just behind his car about 2' inside of his left wheel track. Well, I am a Canuck and the Pats are not playing until later so I got into my hazard suit and grabbed my shovel and removed it so he wouldn't break a shear pin on his snowblower.

May as well gas up my snowblower while I am outside, right? eh? So, I did. I took one step out of my garage and the NFL football intro/post-commercial tune sounded. Da da da dahhhh from inside the garage. WTF? I turned and listened. Nuthin. Hmmmm. Okay, musta been from the TV via the fireplace concrete right? But, I could not hear the TV. I shrugged and turned back to the house. TUNE! I spun around lookin fer the ghost, demon, spectre. Nuthin. BUT, I froze and stared. Da da da dahhhh from the pile of crap for the yard sale. I dug in and found the snack dispenser that plays that tune when you open it... it was a crappy Xmas gift from TWO years ago. Never took it out of the package! I looked at it in disbelief and it went DA DA DA DAHHHHH!

It's on the coffee table. No way am I gonna piss off Vince, right? Eh?

No fanfair for Edleman... cool. How The Belly can keep finding these small guys who are clutch catchers that can cut and make yards after the play just freaks me out. Coach of the year? My vote again but he doesn't need another award before he goes to Canton.

HUH?

Manning's yardage record could fall

› Final-game pass to Decker in question

thE aSSOciatED PRESS
ENGLEwOOD, cOLO. – Peyton Manning says his records won't last long. One of them might not even last the week.
Elias Sports Bureau, which keeps the NFL's statistical records, is reviewing a seven-yard pass from Manning to Eric Decker that occurred in the first quarter of Denver's 34-14 win at Oakland on Sunday to make sure it was a forward pass.
If not, he'll lose the single-season passing record he set on the final day of the regular season.
Manning finished with 266 yards passing before sitting out the second half, and his final throw was a six-yard TD toss to Demaryius Thomas which gave him 5,477 yards for the season – one more yard than Drew Brees' 2011 record.
Elias routinely reviews plays and often tweaks totals in the days following games, then notifies teams of corrections to totals such as yardage or sack numbers.
If Elias determines the throw to Decker with just over a minute remaining in the first quarter was actually alateral, Decker would be credited with a seven-yard run, not a catch.
That would leave Manning with 5,470 yards passing, still his career high but six yards shy of Brees'record.

Luck was a bit Lucky. Donald Brown fumbles the ball backwards and it bounces into Luck's hands for the score. Which is part of the game. I don't have a problem with that.

But the NBC crew's constant narrative about how it was Lucks "leadership" that prevailed got pretty tedious when talked from half an hour before to half an hour after the game. To bad they won't be covering the game when Luck takes his "leadership" into Brady's house. Think how good the Pat's would be if their leadership could teach their backs to fumble the ball to Brady.

Got my Pats LED lit floor mat in front of my rocker, my NFL slippers on, my Pats t-shirt and cap and Belly-Size hoody on and my signed Brady Jersey hung in the closet (encased in plastic) ready for the fourth quarter if the game is close. Its pretty clear that SF was taunting them verbally and the less experienced Panthers fell for it.

Next year they will me more mature and will have one or two better receivers. With the management and core young players the Panthers will be good for a long time.

Newton showed a lot of poise. Kuchley showed a lot of energy!

The weather looks good and the Denver defense seems to be making a play of two. It looks really good for Peyton but I'd rather Rivers won. On the other hand, if that happens, I won't get to see Manning vs Brady.

It was a joy to watch Philip Rivers lose it and yell at his own teammates, and throw the ball on the ground. I especially enjoyed watching him standing on the sidelines with his helmet on like he's going to go back in as the clock wound down under 2 minutes.

The Broncos will have to play offense the entire game against Brady to have a chance though, not only half of the game as they did today.

I'll predict a Denver-Seattle Super Bowl though. And I think Seattle's Defense gives them a slight edge

Yeah, I think that Seattle matches up extremely well against SF and their secondary won't be upset by the trash talk and chippiness.

Keeping in mind the Panthers were relying undrafted rookies and castoffs from other teams in the secondary. They played their hearts out all yeah but lack of experience did them in.

Richard Sherman will give Boldin all the trash he can handle and a few measures beyond that.

But I think that New England can beat the Broncos especially if the weather is bad. LaBlont can keep Manning off the field and Brady and his guys can score on them as easily as Rivers and Allen did.

I think Seattle will win decisively but I give a slight edge to Brady unless the Broncos play a lot better, a lot better than they did against Sand Diego.

JtS... I agree the Pats can beat the Broncos and I think they have a very good chance to do so. But, any given Sunday eh?

Can they then beat the Seahawks? I'd say they have a better chance than with the Broncos. Why? Brady? Blout? Mymandola? Any other player? Nope. Head coach... the master of the game on the gridirons today hands down in my books. Players win games. Coaches win championships.

I don't think it will be so much about scoring first as to whose style of play dominates. If it is a low scoring game with lots of running, I think New England will dominate. If it is a shootout, all of the sane money will be on Denver. It will probably be in between and be a great game. Denver has three pretty good backs and we all know Brady can throw.

I'll be happy if Manning wins, happier if its Brady and over joyed if the winner can beat the SeaHawks or Niners. Sorry west coast fans, But I and sick and tired of hearing how good those guys were all year.

They are good but not that good. The Cards, The Panthers and others showed this year that they can be defeated. Maybe Wilson or Kaep can lead their team to the Promised Land. But this year my bet is on a wily vet. :-)

Not certified but the guy (a Mudcatter) that got it for me saying it is because Tom is his buddy is all I need to feel like a kid. I never "got" autographs and such until this jersey arrived in the mail. Seriously... who cares, right? Well, I'll be damned if I didn't put it on and drive all over town and do a seductive striptease taking off my parka to slowly reveal the jersey in front of my buddies to show them such a treasure! Childish? You bet. I am actually somewhat ashamed. But, now, I get this "autograph" thing to a certain extent.

Carolina Panthers full back Mike Tolbert dove into the end zone for the two-point conversion, giving Team Rice the one-point edge.

"Philip (Rivers) told them to give it to me, my old teammate, he made them give it to me," Tolbert said.

After the play he mocked Panthers teammate Cam Newton's superman celebration.

"I told Cam I was going to mess with him if I got in the end zone, so I had to," Tolbert said laughing.

And, yes, I know it's far more complicated than that in this sport which is more a game of chess than physical prowess. But, no QB can be a "consistent" hero witout a good front line... scrablers included. 'Ceptin maybe Fran The Man.

"If it is a shoot out it will be a blow out Seattle can't score with Denver. Their game is ball control and turnovers.

Turnovers? From start to soon to finish. Wow! I cheered for the Broncos but I put my coin on the Seahawks. I am not happy but I am happy in a way.

Nah... I am not happy.

I seem all and sommat just occured to me. The two worst were both losses by Denver. I always say I just wanna see some good football but that doesn't mean by just one of the teams.

Pete and his team did an amazing job all season. Kinda fun to watch a 62 year old man act like a little kid. I could feel the elation he displayed so genuinely and unabashedly.

"Pete and his team did an amazing job all season"

One of the best games (most competitive) they were in this year was on the Road in Carolina.

12 - 7, Russell won it with his feet and arm in the closing minutes. that was a game!

I was up close and personal to the game ... you could see the stink fumes rolling off Denver ... sure glad I got tickets for free ...

terrible football game, didn't like the halftime show ... I thought it would be a great game. I have to go back to the Buffalo Bills playing the cowboys to see a game that bad.

Seahawks came to play. Denver was asleep

Gave up after part of the half-time show. Denver was un-prepared; and no way they could come back in the 2nd half.

The halftime show had a bunch of what looked like drug addicts in a frenzy, jumping around and making noise. Not music and not comedy- ugh!

Switched to the BBC News channel; more entertaining.

Was that really the same Pete "Deer in Headlamps" Carroll who used to coach New England. We've had a long string of close Superbowls while BBC were carrying it in the UK. This year it was back on Channel 4, so we were back to lop-sided games. The look of sheer horror on Peyton Manning's face when the snap sailed over his head on the first play said it all.

I hear ya olddude! Why did Beebe have to make the one exciting play in that whole game? It would have made the record books as the biggest blowout and the most boring game.

"Deer in Headlamps"... hahahahahaa.

I musta talked to 20 people today who said it was such a crappy game that they didn't watch the whole thing.

There was no doubt in my mind that the crowd was in favour of the Seahawks but it would have made no difference at the start of the game because the crowd is gonna be loud no matter who they are cheering for. As for the bad snap, Ramirez said, and I can understand, :

"It was real loud. We were trying to go on the cadence. I thought I heard him. I didn't. He was actually walking up to me because he had already said the cadence, and I snapped it. But again, I take full responsibility for that. It's just something that we should have been able to overcome. and we weren't able to ... It's not an excuse. It shouldn't have happened.

I went into the game focused. That wasn't the issue at all. We were backed up into the end zone and they were loud."

Should have been the Patriots in the Big Game. Does anyone doubt that they would have been better prepared than the Broncos apparently were?

Of course the Pats would have been prepared. Or Belichick would have benched the lot of them and put in the practice squad. :-) I think that may be the main difference between Manning and Brady all these years. Brady could not get away with being anything but his best.

The Broncos clearly were not prepared as they should have been and admitted as much. They have the talent to win it all. But The coaching will have to improve.

Yeah. It looked like they were gonna treat Wilfork and his family like crap and the fans went apeshit. Great news. And the signups have been excellent. The Pats recruiting staff have done an amazing job so far.

I found it distasteful that some people on Facebook crapped on Brady for his comments on the 'real heroes' at the fire near his house. He's just a guy who said what we all were thinking.
