Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2013 - 2014 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 09 Dec 13 - 10:44 AM Gnu, IMHO The snow games are much more fun when you can sit on your porch in comfort and thank God you don't have to drive home with 50,000 other people on snow clogged roads. |

Great win for the Pack tonight. I went into JJ Moon's on Wembley High Street this year and there was a man in front of one of the many TVs muttering "I hate Tony Romo". As I explained to him, i don't, because Romo always plays just well enough to convince Jerry Jones That he is the quarterback to take the Cowboys to the Superbowl, while the rest of us, including all us Redskins fans, know better. Yeah, long may Romo satay as the Cowboys' quarterback! |

Thank goodieness it was a fluffy snow and not that wet heavy crap we usually get with first few storms of the season. But, the absolute worst thing about yesterday was the two pass interference NON-calls on the second and third last plays of the game... I had the Pat's on a tie at 3.35. I nailed the other 5 games. I may write a Goddamn letter*! "Are you shittin me? Are you fuckin BLIND?. Everybody saw it! Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2013 - 2014 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 16 Dec 13 - 03:23 PM Seattle looks good. If I HAD to pick one team it would be them. But there are a few teams (SF, NO, Carolina) that could beat them if they get a couple of lucky bounces. I'd give Seattle about a 1 in 4 chanceof making the NFC championship game, with the winner of the East 1 in 30, The winner of the North 1 20, The Saints 1 in 10, the Panthers 3 in 20, the 49er 1 in 8. Vegas odds of winning it all. Seattle Seahawks 9/5 Denver Broncos 13/5 San Francisco 49ers 15/2 New England Patriots 14/1 Cincinnati Bengals 15/1 Carolina Panthers 16/1 New Orleans Saints 18/1 Kansas City Chiefs 20/1 Green Bay Packers 35/1 Indianapolis Colts 40/1 Philadelphia Eagles 40/1 Detroit Lions 45/1 Baltimore Ravens 50/1 Chicago Bears 60/1 Miami Dolphins 75/1 Dallas Cowboys 85/1 San Diego Chargers 85/1 Arizona Cardinals |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2013 - 2014 From: GUEST,gnu on laptop Date: 29 Dec 13 - 02:48 PM Not a word of lie. I am watching two football games and surfing. I noted someone leaving the old guy's driveaway across the street and they left big slushball just behind his car about 2' inside of his left wheel track. Well, I am a Canuck and the Pats are not playing until later so I got into my hazard suit and grabbed my shovel and removed it so he wouldn't break a shear pin on his snowblower. May as well gas up my snowblower while I am outside, right? eh? So, I did. I took one step out of my garage and the NFL football intro/post-commercial tune sounded. Da da da dahhhh from inside the garage. WTF? I turned and listened. Nuthin. Hmmmm. Okay, musta been from the TV via the fireplace concrete right? But, I could not hear the TV. I shrugged and turned back to the house. TUNE! I spun around lookin fer the ghost, demon, spectre. Nuthin. BUT, I froze and stared. Da da da dahhhh from the pile of crap for the yard sale. I dug in and found the snack dispenser that plays that tune when you open it... it was a crappy Xmas gift from TWO years ago. Never took it out of the package! I looked at it in disbelief and it went DA DA DA DAHHHHH! It's on the coffee table. No way am I gonna piss off Vince, right? Eh? |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2013 - 2014 From: gnu Date: 29 Dec 13 - 08:21 PM Damn lucky I would say, JtS. I really did not expect such a close game but they squeaked er. Hell of a nail biter. Same with other games. Exciting day of football so far. One more game to watch but we got a snowstorm comin in so an early morn cleanup means an early bedtime. No fanfair for Edleman... cool. How The Belly can keep finding these small guys who are clutch catchers that can cut and make yards after the play just freaks me out. Coach of the year? My vote again but he doesn't need another award before he goes to Canton. Manning as MVP? Why does that need a question mark??? |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2013 - 2014 From: gnu Date: 02 Jan 14 - 10:10 AM HUH? Manning's yardage record could fall › Final-game pass to Decker in question thE aSSOciatED PRESS ENGLEwOOD, cOLO. – Peyton Manning says his records won't last long. One of them might not even last the week. Elias Sports Bureau, which keeps the NFL's statistical records, is reviewing a seven-yard pass from Manning to Eric Decker that occurred in the first quarter of Denver's 34-14 win at Oakland on Sunday to make sure it was a forward pass. If not, he'll lose the single-season passing record he set on the final day of the regular season. Manning finished with 266 yards passing before sitting out the second half, and his final throw was a six-yard TD toss to Demaryius Thomas which gave him 5,477 yards for the season – one more yard than Drew Brees' 2011 record. Elias routinely reviews plays and often tweaks totals in the days following games, then notifies teams of corrections to totals such as yardage or sack numbers. If Elias determines the throw to Decker with just over a minute remaining in the first quarter was actually alateral, Decker would be credited with a seven-yard run, not a catch. That would leave Manning with 5,470 yards passing, still his career high but six yards shy of Brees'record. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2013 - 2014 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 05 Jan 14 - 08:41 PM It could be worse. The Panthers are hosting the 49ers who they beat at home. Hopefully the Saints will beat the Seahawks so that, if we prevail over the niners, we can host the NFC Championship. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2013 - 2014 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 06 Jan 14 - 02:24 AM Cool! I would have expected 2 to one Seahawks or worse. If the Eagles secondary can shut down Graham, and the Panthers at home for that matter, what can the Seahawks do? |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2013 - 2014 From: gnu Date: 06 Jan 14 - 06:06 AM Colts score 28 to win. Now, that's Luck!!! What a nailbiter. 50% of Pats fans (who) voted wanted to see the Colts next Saturday and they will. All of the games were good. I think next weekend will be even better. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2013 - 2014 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 06 Jan 14 - 10:39 AM Luck was a bit Lucky. Donald Brown fumbles the ball backwards and it bounces into Luck's hands for the score. Which is part of the game. I don't have a problem with that. But the NBC crew's constant narrative about how it was Lucks "leadership" that prevailed got pretty tedious when talked from half an hour before to half an hour after the game. To bad they won't be covering the game when Luck takes his "leadership" into Brady's house. Think how good the Pat's would be if their leadership could teach their backs to fumble the ball to Brady. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2013 - 2014 From: Jack the Sailor Date: 11 Jan 14 - 03:54 PM If its bad weather in Denver, I'd go with the Chargers. The niners vs the Panthers is pretty much a coin toss. Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2013 - 2014 From: gnu Date: 11 Jan 14 - 04:20 PM Yeah I looked at all that but I goota trust the records and the injury reports. I agree about the rain but hey, 12th man in that stadium and home field? As for the other consideration, I will be cheering wildly if the Chargers get close. Got my Pats LED lit floor mat in front of my rocker, my NFL slippers on, my Pats t-shirt and cap and Belly-Size hoody on and my signed Brady Jersey hung in the closet (encased in plastic) ready for the fourth quarter if the game is close. But, I don't expect Voodoo will be required. Although, I gotta say I like the Colts big time on accounta Luck and the rest just seem to ENJOY it so much. The enthusiasm they have is simply infectious. What's not to like? GO PATS! |
