The Calgary Folk Festival was the last week in July.

Calgary is still in the midst of a recovery from a devastating flood that affected much of the downtown. I heard that the zoo has re-opened...but who knows what shape it's in. So if you hear of some great clubs, you may want to phone them to ensure they are back in commission.

We had a couple of nights there in 2011, and found an Irish pub in the downtown area which had some sort of music going on, but not really a session or open mic.

But downtown is worth a day, and the zoo (if you're into that sort of thing) is definitely worth another.

Enjoy.

Hi,

I find that I will be in Calgary between the 12th and the 16th of this month. I have had a trawl through the back forum but there is nothing recent.
Are there any open mic, folk clubs, sessions etc in town these days?
I had a wonderful time the last time I was in Canada, that was Toronto, and am looking forward to the visit.
Chris
