I'm all set to be there for the whole weekend, starting on Friday afternoon when I'll be sharing running the singaround in the Cons Club - this is usual a lovely start to the weekend
Later in the evening I will be part of a "Chance to meet" in the same venue

On Saturday I "Meet the Songwriters" in the Emmanuel Church Hall, Jubilee Room at 11.15 (this is a change of venue to that given in the programme) and this year will introduce Pete Morton and Edwina Hayes
In the evening I will host the " Picking Parlour " in Arts Bank

Finally on Sunday Morning it's the "Folk on the Internet" workshop. An event I've presented for 8 years now and it's always very well received.

So come along. It's a lovely little festival with lots going on - ther's something for everyone

Really enjoyed this festival in previous years - great line up, very friendly and in a lovely place.

Will be there this weekend and really looking forward to it from the Thursday night in the Marine onwards. Looking forward to the sing around in the Conservative Club - always a great part of the festival.

Thank you to the organisers for keeping up the standards with a really good programme this year.

didn't get to the pre-festival evening but looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow. I'll certainly be singing "Whenyou and I meet" written at Saltburn festival some years ago.

CHORUS
When you and I meet like long lost family
When you and I meet we know how good life can be
When you and I meet the hours just roll along
When we meet to sing our song

Nay Ull Lad I am the fat lad in the festival music hall trio.
Mind I am not as big as Mick nor sadly do I have his presence.
Apart from the music hall bits I will be rambling round the singarounds and getting my yearly fix looking for songs to learn and generally trying to have a good time. Meet a few old friends listen to a lot of good singers hope the festival goers get something entertaining from me. With luck we will meet

Ray

Wishing all those attending Saltburn Festival a really good weekend !! Sadly, I will not be there this time but I have fond memories of previous years with good friends, great music ( mostly in informal singing sessions for me ) in a lovely friendly town. I hope the weather is kind too . I look forward to Whitby Festival and plan to be there from Tuesday to Saturday ( 20th to 24th August ) and hope to meet up with many old and new friends..often in the back room of the Black Horse amongst other pubs.

With all good wishes.

David

Always good to meet old friends Ull Lad. I went to the singaround this afternoon and it was really good
The place started slow but filled up to full and continued that way almost to the end. Some good singers there and some really good stuff came out. I am always amazed at just how good folkies can be its one of the pleasures of Saltburn festival

Regards lad

Very enjoyable afternoon at Saltburn.

Excellent mixed song/tune session in the Victoria then on to the Cons club for the singaround. The room was packed and there was a good variety of songs with plenty of choruses.

I went home at tea time as I was somewhat tired - a benefit of living nearby. I am looking forward to tomorrow, though.

I was surprised at how quiet the Cons Club bar and garden was, though. There is usually an informal session or two going on. I was talking to one of the stewards and he said it has been getting quieter these past couple of years or so.

Still recovering from a weekend at Saltburn. Last nights final "Sing" was one of the best I've been to. So friendly - as was all the festival.

Thanks to everyone who supported the events I was involved with - it was a pleasure to welcome old friends and meet new ones.

Thanks also to the oranisers ( John Taylor, Paul Lucas and crew ) for once again creating the magic - after 16 years at Saltburn and numerous years before that at Redcar I'm amazed by what they have achieved.

Roll on next year

Tootler,
Re Quiet at the Cons garden
One of the reasons may have been the recent death of Martin Nesbitt who was a leading light and very popular man at the Cons. Sorely missed.

Maureen and I had a geat time and thanks to everyone who came to the two Singarounds we ran in the Conservative Club particularly the bar staff who worked there socks off. M tripped and fell on Sunday AM and hurt her knee and I had to take her to Harrogate Hospital for an Xray yesterday. There is nothing broken but it is painfull and she is walking on crutches, resting and hopefull;y getting fit for Whitby.

Tootler,
Re Quiet at the Cons garden
One of the reasons may have been the recent death of Martin Nesbitt who was a leading light and very popular man at the Cons. Sorely missed.

Sorry to hear that, though I didn't know him. The name rings a bell, though.

Things were back to normal on Saturday. I went to Julie Cunnunghams"s session in the lounge which adjourned to the bar where I spent the rest of the afternoon. Very lively.

Overall, an excellent day, though I went home earlier than usual as I was tired. Did manage the White Hart Folk Club hosted singaround at the Victoria, though.

It was a great night at the Festival Survivors night - last night at the Cutty Wren FC.
The place was packed - so good to see. 40 people in the room by 8pm and more singers/ musicians than the MC could manage to fit in,
A fitting ending to the festival. Sorry I had to leave early but I had a doctors appointment the next morning that I didn't want to sleep in and miss,
Unfortunately, that just what I did so I wish I'd stayed to the end

What an interesting Saltburn ff this year!

I was chomping at the bit for Fred song entries, in the end there were EIGHT fine singers and well done to them all!

Winner this year was a past entrant from Cornwall ~ Anita Foley, who I have since learnt has guested at Wadebridge (I think)

Glen Osborne is as bad as John Booker at buying the beer ~ and please note I am a poor drinker and should NOT be led astray!! ever (I am not short of brass by the way!!)lol

So many thanks to all entrants in the Fred Jordan Competition 2013 for over 18s and well done to John Taylor, Paul and all the crew! Had chat with Edwina Hayes and loved her songs and chat, Jim Eldon and Lynnette, Alison McMorland and Geordie McIntyre, and Tracey Boyle and her mum

See some of you at Whitby
Ray

Wonder if the songwriter prize was sorted? There was to be a stewards enquiry.

It would seem the songwriter comp did have a "Stewards Inquiry" as it was not up to me and I was elsewhere I cannot comment with any authority ~ the prize was not presented however!!
