Thanks for the comments on Charles' song, m. And thanks for the other comments. LEJ deserves many thanks from me for helping me out when I needed help. Indeed, Pete might be on it. I can only dream that others would be on it too if they could... Jean comes to mind first... maybe even Utah... others. Fighting for the little guy against the bullies.

I had time and quiet to listen carefully this morning. The words are clear, the meaning valuable, and the performance carries both admirably. All Charles' singing needs is some breath control. I liked both the arrangement and the guitar work. If another musician does offer to "take up the cause" I hope Charles will still take part.

I'd love to see "Is Our Forest Really Ours" and "I Am NOT With JDI" become vital parts of a full documentary on the issues discussed in both songs. I can imagine Pete Seeger jumping on this project like a duck on a June bug.

Thank you, Charles, Gary, and LEJ.

BTW... I like Charles' video. I like the song and I like the performance. It flows with the documentary episodes. It is "in context". If anything, his uncertainty of the performance exemplifies the feelings of many NBers and anyone else who takes on big corporations. It just seems to "fit".

If anyone feels the same way, please post those feelings, comments, in this thread. It might be more helpful in the long run.

Thanks.

Yours was a great contribution, gnu and LEJ. The new song conveys both the value of the forests and the price paid for mistreating the land. We've got torrential rains right now so I can't hear Charles' song, but will listen carefully when things quiet down here.

A short while back, LEJ did (a great job on a) song of mine. It was a protest song about the lumbering industry and our government in New Brunswick, Canada. The reason I wrote the song was because I saw a documentary in progress at http://isourforestreallyours.com/Isourforestreallyours/Welcome.html

If you care to, watch Episode 9... 11 minutes long. You will understand why I HAD to write the song. I knew I had to write the song less than half way through that vid.

Well, long story short, a company whose initials are JDI mounted a PR campaign just before the shit hit the fan and Charles, a filmmaker for 35 years, HAD to write a song about it. JDI has TV ads that say "I am with JDI." Here is Charles' reply. https://vimeo.com/72013920

Charles doesn't consider himself much of a geetar player or singer and some people have therefore suggested someone "take up the cause". Anyone care to do so? I know that when LEJ offered to help me, the result was great and I owe him a beer or three. If so, PM me.
