because you can't help thinking - even though you know better - that the world would love it .... Here's my first entry: Japanese folk music in a temporary restaurant

Absolutely astounding. I've spent the last forty years trying to tell the world of the importance of its own music. Alas, to little avail. If Ry Cooder ever jammed with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan then the record would sell like hot cakes. Not that I've got anything against either party, but when an obscure Japanese family makes such wonderful music as this, then hardly anybody wants to know.

Folkways once released a stunning pair of Lps of Japanese folk music BTW. Traditional Folk Songs of Japan. FE 4534. You can still download it from the Smithsonian Folkways website.

I complained to Netflix that there is a shortage of 50's music, oldies, Folk, and modern Singer/Songwriters.

I am going to keep bugging them.

If any Mudcatters have DVD's that they want seen then I suggest that you offer them to Netflix.

So if you use Netflix, then keep asking them for the kind of music that you want to listen to, because I think that they believe that music began in 1980.
