We're on tonight folks. Check it out. As usual please call (even if you have nothing to say, tell us about the weather where you are). 1-888-488-9050 or 610-738-9050. I think we're calling it "So Fawking Tired" tonight. Enjoy, as we will try.

I am listening in to Mudcat Radio live. What a trip! I just heard Kat on the phone, talking to Max and Bert. I usually listen to the show on tape at my desk at work. But tonight I made it home for the live show (or at least some of it, I missed the first 25 minutes).

It sounded great, Bert & Max. Really enjoyed the music, although I missed the opening song by Aine, and it is pronounced Awn-ya, correct, Aine?

Ya know, the ole 'pewters probably get migraines, too, so sometimes they just crash, right, Fielding?*g*

Paul, I really enjoyed your song, just beautiful. Bert, the one you learned from your dad, that your grandma sang to him? Made me cry....so melancholy.

Oh, and I do NOT walk around with that darn cat on my head! Sheesh, he only drapes himself around my neck these days. Just hangs there, like a panther in a tree, all four legs splayed every which way, with his sweet furry head resting on my right shoulder. Sometimes, when he thinks I've been on here too long, he climbs up between the keyboard and me and curls up against my chest, with his butt just on the edge of the desk, right where I can't see a thing I am typing! Gawd! He is such a touchy-feely-needy cat...I just love my men that way!

Ever onward, Max. Don't think twice, it's alright.

Dear 'kat,

Yes, my name is pronounced like 'Awn-ya'. Thanks for bringing it up, I never realized how much trouble it could be for some folks to say.

Max & Bert - It's too bad that the archive blew up too -- I really enjoyed Bert and Paul's songs. Maybe next week, then?

The URL for the live show is http://media.mudcat.org/live.ram

I added Mudcat Radio to my presets so I don't have to look for the link each week. In case someone doesn't know how to do this:
1) Click on the URL. This should open RealAudio and get you to the site.
2) Go to the menu at the top and click on "Presets"
3) Click on "Add to Presets." In the top block, "Title," I called it "Mudcat." In the bottom block, "Folder," I typed "Folk."

What, you say you don't have a folder called "Folk?" Go to "Presets," "Organize," then click on "Add Folder."

When you want to listen to the live show, all you have to do is click on "Presets," "Folk," and "Mudcat."

Great show last night Max and Bert too bad about the technical difficulties (I hate computers). I'll look forward to next week's show!

Aine - I checked out the link you posted for Irish in Texas. I had been there before, it seems to me, not in relation to Mudcat. I take it we are neighbors??

Okay, let's try this again.

Hello, Earth to Mudcat, come in Mudcat, come in Mudcat.

Is it possibile to create a link, (blue clicky thingy), that when used will carry us effortlessly to the radio program? As I live in the Pacific Northwest and can only catch it live via the net. Upon trying to reach it last night via Real Audio I got stumped as to what to tell my Real Player what to look for. I tried Mudcat Radio to no avail. I am obviously asking for the wrong site. Can anyone direct me to the correct one? I can however review archived shows. Is this my only alternative?

Thanks loads................ searchin'

Hello, Earth, this is the Vogon...oops, sorry, wrong message.

Welcome, Earthling Reggie, to the Hitchiker's Guide to Blue Clickie Things. We should probably, in addition to posting a blue clickie and directions on how to enter it into RealAudio so you don't need a blue clickie in here each time the show is on, also mention you can do it anytime. Yes, you'll get the message that the site isn't available. Ignore it. You can add Mudcat Radio to your presets now, for later clicking.

You guys have enought to do, Bert...it was a good one, butlet it go. We're like a bunch of kids who didn't get their candy for the week; that or a bunch of junkies!:-)

I know we all love it, but you both put out a lot of work as it is, plus Max has his hands full with OnStage Media and with HFA, so just take a breather. We can all hang on until next week.

We pause a moment for this commercial message:

For any of you newbies who don't know: Max's other job, his company, is OnStage Media, a web design company. The reason there IS a Mudcat is through the generosity of Max and his company, so....if any of you know of an individual or company that needs some fantastic web design etc. done, contact OnStage Media.

And now, back to our regular programme, already in progress:

I have been asked about playing over Ft Worth way (I will not be taking many dates 'til after the New Year, so I wouldn't expect to be there before January).

Do you know any of the folks in the pics at my site? The Blarney Brothers? The Irish Rogues? Amberhawke? That was a fund raiser in Dallas on Halloween ...

Bert -- I'm blushing from my toes to my ears! Thank you, you're very kind. I, too, would like to hear your own song and Paul G.'s song again.

It just wasn't anybody's night on Wednesday. First, the MCR goes down, then my computer crashed while I was in the ICQ chat that Alison had going, THEN (euphemism, euphemism) my hockey team lost, and then my husband aspirated some of his supper into his lungs screaming at the bloody hockey game!! I tell ya, sometimes it's just not worth getting up in the morning...

Liam -- I don't know any of the folks in the groups you mentioned personally, but, I've seen them all perform several times. Let me know when you will be performing in Ft. Worth, please. (And of course, let Bert here know too).

Here's one for you, speaking of Wednesday in the vortex of evil things -- Our house sprung a slab leak, which is what happens in Florida homes with no basement when the sub-standard copper pipes used 15 years ago react with the chlorine in the water and the Florida sand below, for the fourth time this year. The leaks in the pipes are no more than pin holes, but they can flood your house over the course of a day at work...and cost up to $400 US to repair, including drilling through the concrete to the presumed site of the leak. So I ended up having the house re-plumbed today by an army of unsympathetic plumbers, and spending about 6 months worth of gig money...ugh.

Now, I'm not sure how to explain all of this in Texan, but I'll consult my collection of Lyle Lovett CD's and see what happens...;-)

Next week will surely be better, y'all.

Paul

I would like to book a couple of nights out that way in Jan/Feb (I hope to not work very much over Dec). I have been asked if I would play in a couple of places over there, Pig & Whistle and others. I said yes, but haven't pursued it. What do you know of the pubs scene over there? Where do you like to go to hear music?

Dear Liam,

I don't know much about the pub scene over in Ft. Worth, unfortunately. I do know that both the Blarney Bros. and the Irish Rogues have played at the Pig & Whistle. I do believe that it is a very small venue, however. But, that might be right up your alley.

About the only times I get out to hear music is when my friend, Jim Flanagan, is in town, and usually I go to hear him at the Tipperary Inn.
